Overview

Provide digital support for the 16 Days of Activism campaign.

You have:

  • Participate in an orientation and training on WHO’s digital tools and activities related to the 16 Days of Activism campaign.
  • Provide IT support in resolving day-to-day technical issues within the WHO Türkiye office.
  • Assist in organizing, archiving, and cleaning up shared drives and collaboration platforms.
  • Support the removal and updating of outdated digital assets.
  • Contribute to digital empowerment efforts by promoting safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive digital spaces.
  • Perform any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign running from 25 November to 10 December, calling for global action to end violence against women and girls. Each year, the UNITE Campaign highlights a specific theme and mobilizes citizens, institutions, and communities to take visible steps toward a world free of gender-based violence.

In this context, WHO Türkiye, in cooperation with UNV, has launched a Special Programme Initiative to engage UN Community Volunteers in supporting WHO’s operations during the campaign period. The initiative particularly aims to empower women in the IT sector and enhance WHO’s internal systems supporting gender-responsive programming and digital advocacy during the 16 Days.

The selected UN Community Volunteers will assist the WHO Türkiye team with technical IT support that contributes to the campaign’s implementation and visibility. By ensuring smooth digital operations, volunteers will help strengthen WHO’s outreach, advocacy, and communication efforts under the 16 Days of Activism framework.

Under the direct supervision of the WHO Finance Assistant and IT Focal Point, the UN Community Volunteer will provide technical and operational IT support to ensure smooth digital functioning during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. This assignment will contribute to WHO Türkiye’s overall advocacy and awareness efforts, helping amplify the campaign’s message and ensuring that IT systems effectively support communication, outreach, and coordination activities.

The UN Community Volunteer will: • Participate in an orientation and training on WHO’s digital tools and activities related to the 16 Days of Activism campaign; • Provide IT support in resolving day-to-day technical issues within the WHO Türkiye office, ensuring continuity of operations during campaign-related events and activities; • Support the removal and updating of outdated digital assets (e.g., Cisco telephones, file libraries, SharePoint permissions) to maintain system efficiency and data security; • Assist in organizing, archiving, and cleaning up shared drives and collaboration platforms to improve accessibility and workflow; • Contribute to digital empowerment efforts under the campaign by promoting safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive digital spaces; • Perform any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

UN Community Volunteers are expected to be recruited locally and work within their communities. For this specific assignment, if the selected UN Community Volunteer is required to travel or attend specific events, travel and daily meal expenses will be covered by the host entity. Upon successful completion of the assignment, UN Community Volunteers will receive a UNV Certificate of Service.

The UN Volunteers are responsible for arranging her/his own housing and other living essentials within UNV contract period.

UN Volunteer supporting SPI in Europe and Central Asia region: The support provided by the UN Volunteer for tasks supporting the host UN entity in the region of Europe and Central Asia is a Special Programme Initiative (SPI) by UNV. SPIs respond to volunteer-specific needs of the United Nations system and donor entities. They are established by specific policy documents that address the desired programmatic aims and broader SDGs’ outcomes in line with UNV guiding principles. UN Volunteers for this SPI in the Europe and Central Asia region are governed by the particular conditions set out in their offers and contracts.
