Result of Service The individual contractor's service will contribute to UNCTAD’s effort to support women’s economic empowerment and achieve more fairness in the digital economy by giving more visibility to the eTrade for Women initiative and its beneficiaries.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) was established with the objective to support developing countries to help them access the benefits of a globalized economy more fairly and effectively, with a focus on trade, investment, and development issues. In line with UNCTAD’s objectives, the eTrade Initiatives Section of the E-Commerce and Digital Economy Branch is developing eTrade for Women, an initiative that aims at fostering more inclusive digital ecosystems by supporting women owners of digital businesses based in developing countries and by fostering the public-private dialogue.

The eTrade Initiatives Section would like to hire a digital marketing and community management specialist (IC contract) to contribute to the implementation of the digital strategy of the eTrade for Women initiative and foster more engagement in the eTrade for Women Communities, a network of women digital entrepreneurs supported by UNCTAD.

For this contract, the contractor will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officers, and the overall guidance of the Chief of Section, to:

1. Support the Communities management and growth a. Monitor and accept/reject new applications to join the Communities according to the guidelines b. Take new members through the onboarding process. c. Contribute to the growth strategy of the Communities and implement it: promotion on social media, collaboration with external partners, etc. d. Contribute to the structuration of the Communities: revise the application process, the member chart, etc. 2. Support the launching of the virtual community platform a. Once the platform has been chosen, coordinate with IT department to ensure the integration of the platform in the eTrade for Women website. b. Understand and test the functionalities of the platform. When launched, promote the platform among the members of the Communities.

3. Support the growth of the online visibility of eTrade for Women a. Create and schedule 6 months of relevant content for social media (LinkedIn and Twitter). b. Identify a social media management tool adapted to the needs of eTrade for Women c. Provide inputs on the digital strategy to provide more visibility to eTrade for all and eTrade for Women websites and improve the customer journey. d. Browse and advise on relevant online tools to monitor the impact of the digital growth strategy.

4. Increase the Communities engagement: a. Plan 6 months of activities for the Communities (1 per month) i. Identify potential speakers: members or external parties ii. Organize the virtual event iii. Invite the members iv. Promote the event on social media beforehand and/or after hand b. Create 6 months of content for the Communities online groups: share an engaging post at least once a week in the different groups. c. Prepare 6 months of content for the online community platform, with the contribution of members and external partners. d. Monitor the quality of content shared by members and review its relevance. e. Respond to posts and direct messages from the members in a timely manner.

Carry out other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Bachelor’s degree in relevant field pertaining to e-commerce, digital marketing, business administration or any other relevant field or demonstrated experience. Several years of proven work experience in digital marketing with relevant experience with content management systems and community management platforms. At least 2 years of previous work experience producing content for social media is a must. Experience with the UN desirable.

Languages Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or Spanish would be an asset.
