Overview

Maintain the computer lab and support digital literacy workshops

You have:

  • Experience teaching ESOL/EFL to adults in group settings.
  • Experience working with adult students from a variety of backgrounds, including those with limited formal education and/or literacy skills.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and confidence facilitating both large and small groups.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Fluency or familiarity with Spanish, Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Haitian Creole, or Swahili is a bonus, but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintain the computer lab and inventory of technology equipment. - Set up new laptops for clients. - Support clients for the internet applications and troubleshoot issues with the internet company. - Facilitate small to large group basic digital literacy workshops using provided curriculum. - Design customized lesson plans based on provided curriculum for student- centered learning activities. - Create a welcoming environment that fosters community and learning among program participants while interacting with diverse population. - Record attendance and prepare lesson materials effectively. - Other administrative work assigned. - Willing to travel to Elizabeth for in-person instructions and onsite work.

Qualifications DESIRED QUALITIES:

- Experience teaching ESOL/EFL to adults in group settings. - Experience working with adult students from a variety of backgrounds, including those with limited formal education and/or literacy skills. - Excellent classroom management skills and confidence facilitating both large and small groups. - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. - Reliable, responsible, and dedicated to the position until the end of the session. - Fluency or familiarity with Spanish, Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Haitian Creole, or Swahili is a bonus, but not required.

This position reports to the Adult Education Coordinator and Education and Learning Manager.
