UNICEF is looking for a Digital Fundraising Specialist (UNV contract) to support UNICEF’s project to grow on a digital transformation journey to increase revenues and make an impact on children’s lives around the world.

This role is part of a two-year development programme (Fundraising Excellence Programme) that focuses on growing Regional talent for future success. The programme curriculum provides networking opportunities, mentoring, regular learning events as well as connection to the Digital Hub and peers across all regions for support and development

Key areas of the role include: 1.Strengthening UNICEF’s brand and position as the world’s leading children’s rights organization; 2.Reaching people throughout the region and the diaspora globally .with UNICEF’s passionate message about the rights and best practices for children in WCA; 3.Engaging people to take action for WCA`s most vulnerable, excluded and disadvantaged children. 4.Strengthening digital fundraising capacity of key stakeholders to sustain programmatic results.

Digital Fundraising Activities: • Maintain control of timings and workflow across the projects, ensuring good quality of information to sponsors. • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to review strategy, adjustments, and progress. • Develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders across UNICEF. • Boost fundraising revenues and ROI: from planning, implementation to on-going optimization and post campaign review. • Champion a strategic evolution of paid social advertising investments based on maximization of results (output vs input) through test & learn, constant optimization, machine learning automation and full leverage of 1st party data integration. • Support the Regional Fundraising team so that UNICEF can mobilize digital quickly through paid social advertising when emergencies strike. Support the improvement of processes so that quick responses become a key capability. • Work closely with other fundraising digital specialists and with Data Analysts to build a solid framework for measurement and review of all campaigns and represent paid digital advertising campaigns in the necessary level of detail for complete measurement and optimization in global market reports and analysis. • Work with other PFP teams during planning and execution, to ensure relevant paid advertising expertise is utilized. • Plan and execute centrally paid advertising campaigns, always to maximize income growth and ROI as defined by organizational needs. • Provide technical expertise in any interaction with platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snap, TikTok, DV 360, etc) and service providers. • Build and sustain engagement with individual donors through email marketing as per the digital fundraising strategy

Digital Fundraising Marketing strategy: • Work closely with the Advocacy and Communication section to ensure all public facing digital fundraising marketing activities are in line with the regional communication strategy. • Support resource mobilization objectives through the development of fundraising campaigns for key campaigns and priorities at regional level, as set out in the work plan. • Build compelling digital fundraising campaign webpages on UNICEF’s Global Giving Platform and ensure their availability in key languages. Develop fundraising-specific content for key campaigns to post on social media to drive traffic to the Global Giving Platform and advise on scheduling according to a strategic fundraising calendar or schedule. • Support the implementation of a SEO strategy for UNICEF’s WCA Regional Office webpages on the Global Giving Platform.

Moderation & Community Management: Support the moderation of digital channels by closely monitoring reactions to fundraising content on digital channels and flag potential risks, and work closely with the communication team to escalate when necessary. Identify high performing content for use in fundraising initiatives and other opportunities for conversion. Analytics & Reporting Support team members in the preparation of analytics reports regarding the Global Giving Platform and the performance of digital fundraising marketing efforts across all channels, to be shared within relevant teams.

Other duties: Perform other digital fundraising communication and content management duties as required. Attend meetings on digital strategy and campaign project teams.

journalism, communication, marketing, or a similar relevant field. • Have strong writing and copy-editing skills in English and in French • Have knowledge of content management systems, social media management, audience and influencer research, and project management tools, such as Hootsuite and others. • Have strong creative disposition and ability to learn new tasks. • Have experience developing and helping to manage digital content across web platforms. • Understand current trends and best practices in digital fundraising, communication, social media engagement, and best in class digital and social media platforms in both developing and developed regions. • Are an organized and agile team player with high attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks. • Are comfortable working independently with flexible hours and managing one’s own time and responsibilities. • Project management experience in a digital marketing environment and related communications experience is required. • Preference will be given to candidates with fundraising experience. • Expertise and knowledge in specific areas relevant to digital fundraising and/or marketing: paid media, social media, digital customer journeys (UX and CRO aspects), marketing technology for paid social and display advertising (1st and 3rd party data integrations, campaign management platforms, ad serving and tracking) and optimizing digital revenue strategies, is required. • Direct experience in social networks, sales and advertising will be considered relevant as well. • Experience in digital fundraising and/or digital sales or B2C service subscriptions with demonstrable record in getting strong results in acquisition, digital conversion and retention through paid social campaigns is a benefit. • Understanding and experience of Google Analytics products, and Salesforce products is an advantage. • Strong international experience, either professional and/or personal, is an advantage Others: • Expertise in project management software tools (Microsoft), methodologies (Agile, Kanban), and best practices is required. • Proven ability to solve problems creatively. • Excellent analytical skills • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful. • Knowledge of the UN system is an advantage.

The assignment will take place in the nation’s capital, Dakar, a family duty station (Hardship classification A) with missions to the region. Dakar is a livable city. The spontaneous reception and hospitality of the Senegalese are among the characteristic features of this West African country. The living conditions in Dakar are good, as well as the access to health services. The yellow fever vaccine is compulsory; vaccination cards should be presented at the entrance. Vaccinations against Meningococcal Meningitis and Hepatitis A and B are also recommended. The basic drugs are available in pharmacies, but it is recommended to bring specific prescription drugs. According to official estimates from ANSD/RGPHAE 2023, the Dakar metropolitan area population reaches over 3,9 million. The total population of Senegal is 18,032,473 inhabitants (ANSD 2023). Senegal is located on UTC/ GMT. Senegal has a warm climate and sunny days throughout the year that make it a comfortable duty station. Daytime temperatures are, on average, around 30°C. The rainy season is in the northern hemisphere’s summer/fall. The currency used in Senegal is called Franc CFA (XOF). On 1st January 2024, the average exchange rate is 1 USD = 602,577 XOF. Many hotels, restaurants and businesses in Senegal accept the leading international credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.). It is also possible to withdraw cash from automatic telling machines found in all the major cities. The accommodation facilities are in general good, and the choice is vast. Renting unfurnished and furnished accommodations from 450 to 2000 USD is possible. UN Volunteers can also co-rent and share private concessions, which must comply with Minimum Operating Residential Security Standards (MORSS). Local taxis can easily arrange Transportation in town. A valid passport is required to enter Senegal. ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) nationals are not required to have an entry visa. Citizens of other countries may be required for an entry or long-stay visa. They should contact the closest Senegalese representation. Senegalese Embassies and consulates in various West African countries and other parts of the world issue visas before travel.
