What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Context & Purpose

The Digital Editor / Content Specialist is integral to the Cross-Media team. This team oversees our public digital platforms, delivers global campaigns, and formulates integrated media and content strategies to bolster ICRC's positioning, fundraising, and advocacy goals. We provide expertise, services, and guidance for compelling storytelling across the organization in the field and at Headquarters.

The Digital Editor / Content Specialist operates within the Digital Channels team at Headquarters, spearheading the editorial planning for the ICRC's public website. Acting as the website's primary English and French copywriter and language owner, this role supports various digital channels. The specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing website content, coordinating with language owners globally and across the communications network to ensure adherence to content guidelines and standards.

As the website's overall editorial manager, the specialist ensures effective internal information sharing, training, and coaching both in the field and at HQ. The role is pivotal in ensuring integrated editorial planning across our digital media channels, always with an audience-centric approach.

The Digital Editor / Content Specialist reports directly to the Digital Channels Manager.
