This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

This United Nations Volunteers (UNV) assignment is part of UNICEF’s communication programme, encompassing a portfolio from brand building, digital and emergency/humanitarian communications, advocacy for child rights, partnership and media engagement. In the past decade, UNICEF has committed substantial resources and direction to a renewed digital presence for the organization, in line with the Global Communication and Public Advocacy Strategy. As digital transformation progressed across the organization, Armenia country office launched its new bilingual www.unicef.org/Armenia corporate website, established www.Babycef.am parenting website in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Armenia and has extensively used its online and social media presence in the humanitarian response to the refugee crisis. The office would like to further strengthen its digital governance framework with a focus on driving public engagement, launching the Babycef learning platform, and focusing content on human interest storytelling with the aim to increase the reach of its messaging and public engagement around the humanitarian response. This includes for example efforts to provide caregivers with evidence based guidance on parenting and children’s development, to provide information about available services for refugee children and their families, as well as about relevant UNICEF programmes and results.

In digital communications, the section works to create compelling public-facing content, provide digital services and analytics in the office. Through multiple platforms and languages, the section draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, with an increased focus on fundraising, as well as ensuring transparency and accountability. Web stories, photo essays, Facebook Lives and posts, Instagram and Twitter activations, and videos for distribution via www.unicef.org/Armenia in Armenian and English and www.Babycef.am, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms are all a part of our digital storytelling.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Communication Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will: · Regularly update and maintain an engaging, and informative www.unicef.org/Armenia in Armenian and English and www.Babycef.am for intended target audience with objectives for brand building and fundraising. · Regularly update and maintain UNICEF social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) with objectives for brand building and fundraising. · Ensure that global UNICEF policies and standards are incorporated into all digital projects, and that compliance is communicated to HQ as needed, either via analytics or other communications mechanisms. · Manage and implement ongoing site maintenance including updates and edits to content and copy across country websites (English, Armenian). · Provide comprehensive support for updating and launching the Babycef learning platform, ensuring its content, functionality, and design meet the desired standards and objectives. · Create, develop and manage content for the country office’s digital presence across web and social media channels. Ensure completeness of content and adherence to publishing standards as well as to algorithms of the various platforms. · Project manage social media engagement initiatives, propose ideas for and lead on engaging social media content and campaigns, also particularly focusing on adolescents and young people. · When necessary, oversee contractors (writers, photographers, videographers, creative leads, etc.) during project implementation. · Track and report on all digital metrics and key performance indicators, including website and social media, in line with Global Communication Strategy.

· Digital communications, including update and management of web platforms and social media management from content development to marketing · Demonstrated ability to operate on both a strategic and tactical level, touching all aspects of the digital communications plan, including SEO, advertising campaigns; creative, strategic and tactical messaging; testing analytics; and web content management · Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment · Knowledge and experience in web CMS platforms · Ability to use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, and familiarity with other platforms such as Canva · Excellent oral and written skills in Armenian and English · Solid analytical skills with key performance metrics utilizing analytics and social listening tools

As of Apr 2024, National UN Volunteer Specialists in Armenia receive AMD 378,365/month as their Volunteer Living Allowance.

  1. Pre-assignment: Entry lump sum - USD 400 (one time payment) Relocation costs - $200 at beginning and end of assignment if duty station is outside of commuting distance (as determined by UNV)

  3. End of assignment: Exit allowance (paid on successful completion of the assignment)

Yerevan is safe city with occasional public unrest related to the current situation. The climate is continental, with hot and dry summers, cold and snowy winters. The air pollution high during winter time months. The city offers a huge variety of restaurants, cafes, clubs, and other possibilities of diversion. Usually culturally highly active, all over the year one can enjoy on-going programmes of theatre (also international), classic and modern music, ballet, concerts, at everyone 's average. Art expositions are organized quite often, and spring and autumn programmes of international cinema are shown at the National Gallery. Water and electricity are mostly available everywhere in the city, and shops offer all kind of goods (though mostly of local production). Health facilities are good though were overloaded at the time of covid-19 situation.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
