UpLink is the open innovation platform of the World Economic Forum to crowdsource innovative solutions to accelerate the delivery in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).​ UpLink’s efforts focuses on building bridges within the innovation ecosystem to support entrepreneurs for growth and scale.

Since its launch, UpLink has made significant progress in addressing the world's biggest challenges in different thematic areas (e.g. Longevity, Urban Transformation, Food System, Sustainable Mining, Water, Circular Carbon Economy, etc.) alongside its esteemed partners by specifically delivering in enabling early-stage impact-driven start-ups to accelerate impact, building and strengthening innovation ecosystems and shifting perception around the value and significance of early-stage impact innovations.

Why are we recruiting?

UpLink is growing its presence across new partnerships and thematic areas as well as a self-service model of the platform for its partners. To support this growth path, we are recruiting a Digital Content & Communications Specialist. This role is central to the creation, dissemination and promotion of compelling content and marketing efforts that engage our core constituents and the wider public.

Reporting lines and interactions

Based in Geneva, the role of Digital Content & Communications Specialist reports directly to the Lead for Digital Engagement, Marketing & Communication. The individual in this position will be a versatile and creative professional adept in digital media and communication channels. Functioning within a dynamic matrix structure, the Specialist will engage closely with the UpLink Growth, Partnerships & Innovation Ecosystems, Technology, Engagement, and Marketing workstreams, as well as the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

This role is central to coordinating project delivery and ensuring strategic alignment and seamless execution of initiatives. Extensive collaboration is also expected across the Forum, notably with the Global Communications Group, to enhance the efficacy and success of our marketing campaigns and to foster overall organizational synergy.

Main responsibilities:

Content Marketing:

  • Develop content project plans aligned with UpLink’s objectives, relevant for all initiatives and campaigns, that ensures the widest possible reach and engagement.

  • Create and schedule engaging content, including social media videos, blogs, newsletters, and social copy.

  • Collaborate closely with all other marketing functions, UpLink workstreams, and other Forum stakeholders to generate innovative content ideas, and pitch them in daily editorial meetings.

  • Successfully deliver the storytelling strategy and ensure that UpLink’s content resonates with a diverse international audience.

  • Audience Engagement and Analytics: Monitor and report on key data analytics trends related to published content, including video and blog views, shares and other metrics. From acquired traffic, attract the targeted number of solutions submitted to the UpLink platform for each Challenge.

  • Increase the number of returning users to the platform through compelling content.

  • Collaboration and Ideation: Act as a key contributor to the broader UpLink Digital Engagement, Marketing, and Communication team, sharing ideas and collaborating on strategic initiatives.

  • Work closely with specific GCG functions to ensure maximum visibility of UpLink’s initiatives and core constituents through Forum channels.

Project Management:

  • Utilize project management skills and tools (Airtable) to deliver campaigns effectively and efficiently.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external technology partners to ensure smooth campaign execution.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various functions within the Digital & Marketing team as well as other UpLink workstreams including Design and Product teams and relevant GCG (Global Communications Group) departments, to align digital marketing efforts with UpLink’s broader goals.

  • Share insights and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Preferred requirements and Skills:

  • University degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.

  • Proficiency with key digital tools and platforms, such as social media, Google Suite, and content creation software is essential.

  • Proficiency with the following tools a plus: GA4, Social Media Marketing, SEO, Tableau, - Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Experience Cloud and CRM, Airtable, Hootsuite.

  • Proficiency in email marketing, marketing automation and data analytics.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

  • Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic marketing role.

  • A passion for sustainability, environmental issues and making an impact through the World Economic Forum.
