Digital Officer – Information Management (National Position) –Advertisement

NRC resumed operations in Sudan in 2020, providing humanitarian assistance, protection, and durable solutions. Our country programme integrates all of NRC’s six core competencies (camp management, education, ICLA, livelihoods, shelter, and WASH), and provides a rapid response capacity (including for the recent refugee emergency in eastern Sudan), and thematic capacities for cash and markets-based approaches, advocacy, digital modes of assistance, and co-leading various technical and strategic coordination platforms.

Role Specific Information

The Digital Officer (Information Management) position is responsible for managing, analysing, visualising, and disseminating information generated through the Digital Community Hub (DCH). The DCH project is a multi-channel platform for two-way communications with displacement-affected communities (via calls and bulk SMS).

The following is a brief description of the role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, guidance, procedures, and awareness of NRC global and regional strategies.
  2. Implement delegated Digital project portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents
  5. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  7. Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Development and administration of information management systems.
  9. Manage, maintain and improve the flow and script for information provision via calls or messages (including bulk messaging).
  10. Oversee a ticketing system for internal (and, eventually, external) requests.
  11. Support NRC Sudan programme teams (Education, Livelihoods, Shelter, WASH, ICLA) in developing tools and managing information more efficiently.
  12. Regularly analyse DCH-generated data and develop timely and accurate reports and dashboards and promote the use of data in decision-making and programme development.
  13. Oversee electronic record management, transfer, retention, and disposition schedules.
  14. Develop and roll out technical capacity building trainings for other team members.
  15. Manage engagement with service providers on software utilised by the DCH.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context preferred.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to multitask with tight deadlines
  • Degree in Information Management or a related similar discipline (IT, Software Engineering, Statistics) or commensurate experience, is preferred.
  • Applied knowledge and experience in mobile network technologies, customer relationship management software, data visualization. ‘
  • Proficient in developing Power BI dashboards.
  • Proficient in Kobo for data collection.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel outside of Khartoum and work in difficult environments according to travel requirements.

Duty station: Khartoum

Travel: 30%

Contract period: Until 31st December 2022
