Organizational Setting

FAO Mongolia works with the vision "to be a leading, credible and responsive partner in ensuring food and nutrition security of the population". The office has been coordinating projects and programmes in research, capacity building, natural resources management, technology transfer, food and agriculture policy, livestock production systems management, emergency and post-crisis management, forestry information, statistics, food security and nutrition, emergency response operations, crop production system management, and food quality and safety.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative in Mongolia and in close collaboration with the Assistant FAOR and Communication and Networking Officer.

Technical Focus

The specialist will support social media, preparation and dissemination of digital products, and other visibility events related to FAO’s mandate including food security, nutrition, healthy diets, climate change, good production practices, forestry, natural resource management and related technical areas.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Responsible for FAO Mongolia’s social media for the following tasks: - Create original content for related occasions and international days and other awareness-raising days - Develop and implement Social Media Strategy for FAO Mongolia - Design in-house digital communication products (posters, flyers, infographics, etc.) for digital as well as print media - Translate and edit posts for social media and ensure growing social media engagement while also ensuring compliance with corporate social media policies and practices - Manage designing, photography, editing, etc. - Ensure compliance with FAO branding guidelines for all social media contents - Act as the bridge to generate one FAO profile on social media accounts - Disseminate and promote the work of FAO through social media channels - Analysing engagement data, identifying trends in public interactions, and planning digital campaigns to build community online - Make arrangements for other communication work related to social media • Provide regular briefings to FAOR on political, economic, social, and other issues of relevance for FAO Mongolia • Design, produce, and maintain FAO Mongolia visibility items: - Assist in reviewing all communication visibility materials to ensure they are in compliance with the standards and provided rules and regulations - Provide logistical support to the organization of publicity, knowledge-sharing events, and promotional opportunities - Arrange visibility materials for beneficiaries and partners - Responsible for partners’ handouts • Liaison with the Office of Communication (OCC) will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes. • All communication materials will follow FAO clearance processes and comply with FAO standards, including:

• Further guidance regarding FAO communications, policies and procedures can be found through the FAO intranet, OCC section. • Organizing internal and external events/ workshops/ campaign/ advertising activities: - Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and venues - Plan event details and aspects - Manage events and address potential problems - Organize communication visibility materials • Provide interpretation and translation services as necessary • Any other duties as required

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University Degree in International relations, public affairs, communications or any other or any other discipline related to the work of FAO, • Minimum 3 years of post-university work experience (Prior work experience in any international organization or in the UN system would be an advantage.) • Working knowledge (level C) in both written and spoken English, • National of Mongolia or a resident with a valid work permit.

• Understanding of key national priorities in the food, nutrition, and agriculture sectors of Mongolia • Demonstrated experience in the design and development of digital communication materials, social media engagement, handling of social media sites, and event organization. • Experience in layout design of technical reports and documents, • Teamwork and strong soft skills including interpersonal, ethical, listening, and communication skills, proactive, problem-solving, self-organizing, planning, setting priorities, and efficient use of time
