In June 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) opened a country office in Kuwait to advance the health and well-being of the country’s population. The newly established office will enable WHO to work on the ground with national health authorities, United Nations partners and a range of stakeholders in all sectors to foster public health collaboration at the national, regional, and international levels. The office must use various media platforms and tools to communicate with, and to disseminate the latest developments and information to all targeted stakeholders in the country. To achieve this, the WHO Country Office in Kuwait is looking a highly experienced and skilled digital media specialist to support the delivery of WHOs mandate in the country. The selected candidate will work as part of the WHO Kuwait Communications, Resources and Partnerships department and will get a first-hand training from WHO, as well as work following WHO guidelines. In return for their efforts, online volunteers will receive a certificate of appreciation from UNV.

Output 1: Developing Social Media Content for WHO Kuwait Country Office WHO Kuwait is taking an active approach to connecting with communities in Kuwait. One way to achieve this is by leveraging social media tools to share important messages on health, as well as understand community perspectives on the subject. The digital media specialist focusing on social media content creation, will work with the team to build out strategies and content for WHOs social media.

  • Deliverable 1.1: Develop the weekly social media content plans after discussions with the communication unit. The plan will include key messages, the number of posts, dates, and time of publishing.

  • Deliverable 1.2: Draft written content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In to achieve the objectives of campaigns and the daily posts.

  • Deliverable 1.3: Develop social media assets such as branded photos, infographics, videos, etc., to be used across WHO Kuwait’s social media platforms.

Education requirements - Master’s degree in communication or journalism. - Formal training in graphic design.

Work experience requirements - 5 years of experience in using social media platforms professionally, developing social media content including posts and designs and videos

Skills/Technical requirements - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Proven experience developing, managing, and delivering communication strategies and community engagement campaigns. - Proven multimedia production skills. - Strong inter and intrapersonal skills for all forms of communication. - Commitment to teamwork and be able to work in a multi-disciplinary/cultural environment. - Excellent information technology skills and experience in preparing and maintaining website materials. - Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, be dynamic, proactive, and creative. - Understanding of key human development issues. Knowledge of global health and/or WHO an asset. - Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

Language requirements - Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic will be an asset.
