The Human Rights Division of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan is developing a structured online training course to strengthen knowledge and practical skills on human rights monitoring, investigation, verification methodologies, reporting standards, and interview techniques. The course will consolidate existing internal guidance, publicly available human rights standards, and best practices from recognized methodologies. The Online Volunteer will support the compilation, organization, and instructional design of course materials to produce a structured, coherent, and user-friendly online learning package.

Under the supervision of the Human Rights Division, the Online Volunteers will compile and organize content on human rights monitoring and investigation, interview techniques, verification methodologies, and reporting standards from the OHCHR manuals. The volunteers will assist to structure the material into a logical course format, draft module outlines, prepare learning objectives, and propose interactive elements such as case studies, exercises, and knowledge checks. The role focuses on content compilation, instructional structuring, and basic course design, not on conducting investigations or field activities.

  1. A detailed course outline including modules, sub-modules, and learning objectives.

  2. Compiled and structured content for each module in editable format.

  3. Draft lesson scripts or facilitator notes for each module.

  4. At least three practical case studies or scenario-based exercises.

  5. Suggested assessment tools such as quizzes or reflection questions.

  6. A final consolidated course package ready for review and upload to an online learning platform.

The ideal candidate should possess strong research and writing skills, demonstrated experience in human rights, international law, social sciences, or related fields, and preferably experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or e learning content creation, along with the ability to synthesize complex material into well structured and accessible learning modules. Familiarity with human rights monitoring, documentation, and reporting standards is an asset. Excellent English drafting skills.
