UNDP Viet Nam is currently developing a new programme on strengthening air quality and addressing air pollution in Viet Nam, jointly with WHO, in collaboration with key national counterparts including the Pollution Control Department (PCD) of MONRE and the Viet Nam Health Environment Management Agency (VIHEMA) of MOH, who are the key state management agencies for the environment and health sectors, as well as HANOI DONRE and other relevant stakeholders and partners.

City authorities have recently launched the iHanoi application, which includes a function for citizen participation in reporting their concerns, including on environmentally polluting activities they observe. However, there is little information as yet on how this application is being or could be applied to support city authorities at all levels to address air polluting activities.

In this context, it is proposed to prepare a set of concise reports based on data collection and consultations with key stakeholders to identify the current situation (baseline) and propose concrete steps to engage these stakeholders in solutions focused on practical investments and actions to raise awareness, protect people’s health, and contribute to wider efforts and momentum on addressing air pollution in Viet Nam, with a focus on Hanoi.

The following studies are proposed: 1) Baseline study and recommendations on air quality policies and practices in education facilities in Hanoi 2) Baseline study and recommendations on air quality policies and practices in public commercial and cultural spaces in Hanoi

We are seeking 2 Online Volunteer to support our Youth and Air Pollution Team in conducting a quick assessment of the current air quality policies and practices in public spaces with a focus on educational and commercial facilities in Hanoi.

In particular, the Online Volunteers will be asked to: - Support mapping air pollution hotspots, and existing solutions in Hanoi. - Scan websites of selected schools and malls for air quality policies or statements. - Create a table/matrix to keep track of educational/commercial facilities policies on Air Pollution.

The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Youth YDEEP team and Accelerator Lab team at UNDP and learn about the ways in which research skills can support better mobilizing youth and community to foster air quality in Hanoi.

The Online Volunteer should have experience in: 1. Research and analysis - Ability to conduct desk research using credible sources (e.g. government reports, international organizations, media). - Experience reviewing and synthesizing data from multiple formats (PDFs, websites, policy briefs, etc.).

- Strong analytical skills to identify key drivers and consequences of air pollution, especially as it affects youth. - Familiarity with systems thinking or willingness to learn and apply system mapping tools.
