Founded in 1972 following the landmark UN Conference on the Human Environment, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading environmental authority in the United Nations system. UNEP's mandate is to find solutions to the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste. The mission of UNEP is to inspire, inform, and enable nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
UNEP Tanzania Office is part of the Africa office, headed by the Regional Director and Representative. The architecture of the UNEP Office in Tanzania is inclined to a representational role, coordination and integration of UNEP’s inputs and commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and liaison with the host government.
• Conduct comprehensive review and analysis of UNEP’s work in Tanzania, to understand the organization’s strategic objectives, ongoing projects, and key focus areas. • Review and synthesize relevant data, reports, and documents to extract key findings, success stories, lessons learned, and challenges encountered by UNEP in Tanzania. • Review and utilize qualitative and quantitative data, indicators, and performance metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of UNEP Tanzania’s interventions; Engage with UNEP staff, local partners, and stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of the information presented and to gather additional insights or testimonials • Identify and compile key results and emerging issues including environmental conservation, natural resource management, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development. • Assess the effectiveness, strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in the existing governance and institutional arrangements for environmental management in Tanzania. • Develop a visually appealing design layout that effectively communicates the key results and emerging issues, incorporating infographics, charts, and images to enhance understanding and engagement. • Write and edit content to ensure clarity, coherence, and alignment with UNEP’s branding and communication standards, making complex information accessible to a broad audience.
