Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Data Analysis Unit within the Office of the Deputy Chief Executive of Pension Administration of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Data Specialist reports to the Chief of Section of the Data Analysis Unit. The incumbent will play a substantive role in the execution of pillar 3 ("Develop a Strong Global Partnership Network") of the Chief Executive of Pension Administration's strategy for 2021- 2023. The focus of this job is to ensure data quality to generate and communicate data-driven analyses in support of decision-making processes, support strategy development, and manage strategy execution.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Data Specialist will be responsible for the following duties: •Translate organizational needs into analytics and reporting requirements to support decisions, strategies, and workflows with data and information, with a focus on ensuring data quality. •Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns, using machine learning techniques, statistical methods to identify relevant features and variables in structured and unstructured sources of information and data. •Oversee and allocate resources to the building of analysis, reporting, and quality control capabilities. •Conduct full data analytics life cycle analysis, including data requirements, activities and design, with a focus on data quality assurance. •Ensure technically sound execution of data analytics projects. •Collaborate with colleagues across departments to identify data analytics needs and support data-driven projects. •Translate immediate requirements into prototype solutions and oversee their subsequent full implementation, including end-user training. •Keep track of trends and developments in data analytics best practices, data quality techniques, tools, etc.

Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, information management, public administration, management or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, information management, statistics, project management, stakeholder management or related area is required.

Experience in designing and implementing data quality frameworks and processes is required.

Experience in using data to advance decisions, strategies and execution is required.

Experience in quality assuring data for self-service analytics and data visualization applications (MS Power BI, Qlik, Tableau or similar), or business intelligence tools (SAP Business Objects, etc.) is required

Experience in tools managing version control such as Git is desirable

Experience with database or programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
