Contract

The national and international health landscapes are rapidly changing, and new health initiatives are emerging and bring to light pressing challenges connected with health systems strengthening including, health procurement and supply management that require a new modus operandi to optimize UNDP’s investments into global health. It brings also new requirements from countries more particularly for noncommunicable diseases in addition to communicable diseases.

UNDP manages the UN’s largest procurement operation, procuring over US $3 billion worth of goods and services each year, and ensuring that developing countries have access to life-saving medicines, emergency relief supplies and a host of other needed items. GFPHST in close collaboration with the Office of Procurement provides direct support to country offices to purchase health products through transparent purchasing processes that provide the best value for money. Doing health products procurement requires specific expertise to screen the product lists received and check the offers received to ensure conformity with the specifications and quality requirements for health products of the organization.

Under the direct supervision of the Data Management Analyst, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Assist in development of interactive and user-friendly delivery tracking tools for all GPSD Health clients. • Migration of databases and tracking sheets from previous platform to SharePoint. • Assist in updating the internal database on procurement transactions based on the information received from Country Offices, Quality Assurance, ERP system and ongoing transactions, with the list of eligible suppliers and related information. • Liaise with UNDP Country Offices to ensure timely update of tracking tools to support smooth (trouble free) delivery of required goods and services. • Maintain updated database of suppliers and suppliers’ key performance indicators up to date (KPI) and provide regular consolidated reports enabling informed decision making and identification of sourcing strategies. • Assist in compiling and analysis of historical data and forecasts of pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceutical health products.

• Develop demand projections for health products to be shared with UNDP suppliers.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of health procurement dashboards. • Support the team with the optimization and maintenance of the filing system in SharePoint, and Outlook. • Follow up with different suppliers/Long term agreement (TA) holders on timely submission of periodic reports. • Support production and update information products such as maps, charts, and infographics to promote the work of GPSD Health providing health procurement support services. • Supports identification, data collection and implementation of sustainability practices in health procurement and communication of results among internal and external stakeholders. • Ensure consistency in data integrity throughout the data management process. • Update and maintain all Health Procurement FAQ lists. • Perform any other tasks delegated by the Supervisor.

The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging for his/her own housing, transport, and other living essentials.

UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service.
