Organization Background

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the world's leading crisis response agencies, providing life-saving assistance and supporting recovery and reconstruction for people affected by war and natural disasters. Active in public health, education, livelihoods, women's empowerment, youth development, and protection and promotion of rights, IRC assists people from harm to home.

The IRC was registered in Uganda in mid-1998 and implements rehabilitation activities in the sectors of Child and Youth Protection and development, Health, Economic recovery and Development and women protection and empowerment as well as contributing to the response to the Southern Sudanese Refugee situation. IRC Uganda has a head office in Kampala, field offices in Lamwo, Moroto, Kyaka and West Nile.

Job Overview

The enumerator will support with data collection of a baseline assessment in Imvepi/Rhino Settlement.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Participate in the training in data collection methodologies and tools.

•Carryout pretesting of tools and gathering feedback.

•Visit Households to conduct interviews.

•Take notes/transcribe interviews conducted and prepare summaries from Focus Group Discussion and Key informant interviews.

•To collect and update relevant data that meets the intended purpose and quality using the recommended data collection tools/methods and platforms.

•To ensure compliance to organizational performance standards, code of conduct and safeguarding policy.

•Fill in and submit to supervisor timesheets detailing level of effort per day worked.

•To adhere to confidentiality procedures and policies when collecting, storing, and sharing data.

•Safeguard gargets provided including but not limited to tablets.

•To perform other duties as assigned and agreed upon with your supervisor.

Qualifications

• You should have a diploma or a higher Diploma in any of the following fields: statistics, social sciences, business administration or any other relevant field.

• You should be experience in use of mobile data collection apps, MS Excel, and MS Word applications (if you have experience with mobile/online data collection tools, please indicate)

• Experience in data or records management will be an added advantage.

• Previous experience working with NGO on humanitarian setting is desirable especially in Data collection will be an added advantage.

• Previous experience using an audio recorder, Comcare will be an added advantage.

• Ability speak Juba Arabic, Bari, Kakwa, Alur or Lugbara or any other language spoken in refugee settlement is desirable.

• Remains productive when under pressure.

• Ability to enhance good interpersonal relationships.

• Good communication skills.

• Works collaboratively with team members to achieve results.

• Relates and works well with people of different cultures, gender, and backgrounds.

• Flexibility and prepared to work additional hours.

• Ability to multi-task.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Able to respond rapidly to changing environments yet remain productive and focused.

• Strong and fast computer skills (primarily Word, Excel, Power Point, and outlook).

• Time management skills.
