IPC-IG is looking for online volunteers to provide support with translations (Dari, Pashto, English) of legal, political, and strategical documents about the Afghan social protection system. More specifically, the selected candidates will: (i) translate those documents from Dari or Pashto to English, (ii) summarize their main points when necessary (if the document is too long to be fully translated or contains irrelevant information) (iv) translate questionnaires created by IPC-IG researchers from English to Dari or Pashto and (v) assist to answer quick questions regarfding the Afghan political context.

    The IPC-IG is a research Centre that resulted from an agreement between United Nations Development Programme and the Brazilian Government to facilitate South-South Cooperation on key development issues. Its mandate is to promote the production and dissemination of studies and policy recommendations, the exchange of best practices in development initiatives and the expansion of South-South cooperation. Specifically, within IPC-IG´s partnership with UNICEF Country Office in Afghanistan, the Centre provides technical assistance for developing a social protection policy for the country. Online volunteers will work remotely, mostly at a time and location of their convenience, and subjected to the deadlines set. They will receive a certificate of appreciation and can be acknowledged in the final publication of document as feasible.

  • 11-20 hours per week / 24 weeks

    Fluency in Dari and/or Pastho – mandatory. Fluency in English - mandatory. Availability to work at least 2 hours per day, on weekdays - mandatory. Experience with translations – highly desirable. Knowledge of social protection – desirable. Background on legal studies, social sciences, political science, development studies and/or social protection – desirable. Candidates who have previous experience with translation and solid knowledge about the Afghan context will be given preference.
