Duties and Responsibilities The Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) promotes the accelerated transfer of environmentally sound technologies for low-carbon and climate resilient development at the request of developing countries. Among its key services, the Centre provides tailored technology solutions, capacity building and knowledge sharing. As part of its service delivery, the CTCN mandate from Decision 2/CP.17 states that the CTCN is to facilitate the preparation and implementation of technology projects and strategies taking into account gender considerations to support action on mitigation and adaptation. In 2019 the CTCN developed its Gender Policy and Action Plan (2019-2022) to guide gender mainstreaming of operations. Likewise, the Technology framework under Article 10, paragraph 4, of the Paris Agreement designates that the CTCN should support technology transfer with consideration of gender as well as indigenous capacity building and knowledge sharing. In response to this guidance, COP26 designated three new seats on the CTCN Advisory Board to the UNFCCC constituencies of indigenous peoples’ organisations, women and gender, and youth.

The consultant is expected to support the CTCN in implementing and updating its Gender Policy and Action Plan which will be presented to the Advisory Board in the fall of 2021. She/He will also support engagement and collaboration with the indigenous peoples’ constituency and local communities to develop and disseminate relevant indigenous technology information.
