OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

Strategic Communications is one of the priorities of the WHO Regional Director's “Vision2023” for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) and is an integrated part of the Department of Communications, Resource Mobilization and Partnership (CRP). The communications programme's Strategic Objective is to reinforce WHO's role as the trusted health authority, and to share evidence-based health information in the Region. The program's specific objectives are to: Reach the public, donors, media and other stakeholders with accurate, timely and appealing information through traditional and innovative platforms to: promote WHO's impact and credibility as the leading voice for public health highlight heath needs across the region though human storiescommunicate health risks and dispel misinformation. Enhance WHO's capacity to communicate for health, foster partnerships with the media and other key stakeholders, and attract resources for strategic prioritiesReaffirm WHO staff's knowledge of and pride in the work of the Organization Advise senior management on issues that affect WHO's reputation and credibility

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Support the technical and creative conception, development and dissemination of EMRO's corporate communications products (such as printed, digital and video materials) that require consistent branding approaches, creative visuals, engaging messages, and quality assurance reviews so they meet agreed standards for corresponding channels and audiences (including but not limited to social media, websites, and news media).Collaborate closely with Programme, Emergency and Country Communications Officers to establish the scope of their involvement in the planning, production and dissemination of specific content projects that include graphic design, key messages, videos, photo stories, illustrations and displays. Maintain and enhance the WHO/EMRO Calendar of Health Eventsto be used as a single standard planner for marking Regional and international health days/events/campaigns in a streamlined manner. Ensure timely planning and developing of corporate materials for the calendar's events in close coordination with concerned Communication/Technical Officers at WHO/EMRO and Country Offices. Follow up with concerned units/parties to ensure that all visibility and branding products/projects, requiring corporate communications input or support, are efficiently scheduled and undertaken on a planned and resourced basis for their corresponding objectives and audiences - spanning campaigns, health programmes, health and risk communications, partnerships and resource mobilization efforts.Support the development of project planning tools, workflows, standard Terms of Reference, design templates, evaluation and reporting procedures for developing corporate communications products (such as printed, digital and video materials) .Review and evaluate the technical qualifications of external service providers (such as designers, photo/videographers, media/creative agencies, etc) for outsourcing corporate communications projects, products or events.Provide technical and logistic support for operation of theWHO/EMRO's inhouse media production studio including but not limited to guiding studio technicians as well as assisting in periodical maintenance, upgrade and asset verification of the audio/visual equipment. Act as the officer responsible for uploading of new videos/photos to the EMRO YouTube channel and Photo Library including quality control, reviewing captions and other key information needed for the efficient archiving, referencing and retrievals of these video and photo resources.Provide continued technical support to communications teams at country offices for developing/adapting, quality control and dissemination of ‘country focus' corporate communications products. Support capacity building approaches and activities for improved content planning, design and production across the Organization, including coaching and assisting staff on design and branding best practices for their dissemination of public health information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in communication, advertising, marketing, public relations, digital media, journalism, social/health sciences or in any other related areas. Desirable: Training courses or certifications in relevant fields such as corporate branding, graphic design, video editing, health communications, emergency communications, digital production, storytelling, etc.

Experience

Essential: Minimum 2 years of relevant proven professional and hands-on experience in corporate communications. Demonstrated experience in coordinating planning and development of corporate communications products, as well as handling and implementing corporate campaigns/events, preferably in health and development sectors. Desirable: Similar assignments within an international environment (e.g. UN agencies, international NGOs, diplomatic missions, multilateral corporation, etc) are desirable.

Skills

Proven skills in marketing, evaluation and developing digital project management plans, practices and technologies.Sound knowledge of the principles and practices of content co-creation; digital media design layout, typography, and navigation; motion graphics; videography; graphic design; and messaging and publishing for web and print audiences. Ability to manage production of engaging and evidence-based multimedia content in English and Arabic.Ability to tackle multiple issues and tasks in a complex organizational environment, and to work under pressure to achieve multiple deadlines.Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge and build Organizational capacities in key areas and procedures for effective and collaborative management of corporate communications projects and products.Demonstrated ability to "think out of the box" and to make innovative proposals to improve the efficiencies, quality and impact of corporate communications products. Sound knowledge of corporate digital communication trends in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region generally, and the Region's public health sector specifically.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at EGP 601,552 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
