You have:
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills in Uzbek, Russian, and English.
- Educational Background (or currently studying): Linguistics, translation, communication, journalism, or related fields.
- Familiarity with translation principles and attention to linguistic detail.
- Understanding of terminology alignment and web-based content structure.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multilingual, digital environment.
- Sensitivity to inclusive and accessible communication standards.
The Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, co-led by the United Nations Development Programme’s Istanbul International Centre for Private Sector in Development (UNDP ICPSD) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, mobilizes skilled digital volunteers to co-develop open-source solutions that strengthen resilience, recovery, and sustainable development. In collaboration with UNDP Uzbekistan under the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), Tech4R is supporting the improvement of the GEF SGP Uzbekistan multilingual website, which serves as a key national platform for environmental knowledge sharing and community outreach. Currently, the website’s three language versions — Uzbek, Russian, and English — lack full synchronization, resulting in inconsistent terminology, incomplete sections, and varying user experiences. These discrepancies limit the platform’s accessibility for local communities and project implementers. The Content Review & Translation Volunteers will align, proofread, and update multilingual content across the website’s language versions. Their work will ensure consistency, readability, and inclusiveness, supporting the effective dissemination of environmental and climate adaptation knowledge across Uzbekistan’s diverse linguistic communities.
The Volunteer with the team together will: • Review and align website content across Uzbek, Russian, and English versions. • Proofread and edit text to ensure accurate and consistent translation. • Verify terminology and ensure coherence between language versions. • Identify and fill missing sections or misaligned links across pages. • Support the upload and organization of multimedia materials, including photos, articles, and project results. • Collaborate with web editors and the accessibility team to ensure that all language versions meet usability and inclusivity standards.
