Result of Service

Support the Ministry of Education and Research in mainstreaming human rights, equality and non-discrimination in the process of the new curriculum framework development, as well as in the development of the guideline on integrating human rights and equality in the school textbooks elaboration and evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Produce, following an inclusive and participatory approach, a practical guideline on how to integrate human rights, equality and non-discrimination concepts into school textbooks elaboration and how to evaluate the compliance of the textbooks with the “non-discrimination”. At least 2 on-line and/or off-line presentation of the guide will be conducted. 2. Support the development and conduct of the survey(s) planned by the Ministry of Education and Research among pupils, teachers and parents on human rights awareness 3. Mainstream human rights, equality and non-discrimination in the process of development of the concept for curricular development, the national framework for curricular development, the educational framework plan and the national curriculum. 4. Contribute to capacity building/coaching from human rights, equality and non-discrimination perspective of the group of experts/working groups that will be created by the Ministry of Education and Research for the evaluation and development of the national curricula for obligatory courses as part of the educational framework plan. Also, the consultant will support the development and piloting of the human rights training program for teachers. 5. Develop the curriculum for a separate course or mainstreaming human rights in existing compulsory courses in the secondary education level.

Qualifications/special skills

first degree in law, human rights, education, journalism, international relations, or other relevant fields; At least 5 years of experience in human rights field and other relevant Social Sciences (including Pedagogy, Sociology, Psychology), or related relevant field. Proven experience and knowledge in elaborating documents in human rights field (guidelines, reports, training programs, etc). Proven expertise in the field of equality and human rights in the Republic of Moldova. Experience working with the Ministry of Education and Research is considered an asset.

Languages

Fluency in Romanian; English (working knowledge)
