The project is implemented in four pilot countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Indonesia, and Kenya. Long Description ---------------- **Work assignment** Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Brussels Office, and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Individual Specialist shall provide his/her expertise to ensure the efficient and qualitative implementation of the project “Social Media 4 peace” as specified here below. 1. Support the Project Coordinator in the implementation of the project activities. Liaise regularly with UNESCO implementing Field Offices, implementing partners, UNESCO Communication and Information sector and Central services and monitor the delivery and quality of the activities carried out. Participate in project meetings and draft minutes, presentations, background documents, and any other project-related documents. 2. Research and compile background information on social media usage, the dissemination of hate speech and /or disinformation and freedom of expression. 3. Support the Project Coordinator in preparing the extension of the project and the potential next phase. 4. Compile inputs for the narrative report for Y3 in coordination with the Project Coordinator and Project National Officers in the pilot countries. 5. Support the sharing of project results during global conferences, such as World Press Freedom Day, by drafting concept notes and programmes. 6. Prepare visibility content in coordination with the Communication Officers, such as web news articles, publications, leaflets and any other resources in line with the EU visibility guidelines. 7. Support the Project Coordinator in any other tasks that may be needed for the project. Long Description ---------------- Long Description ---------------- **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** - Advanced University degree (Masters or higher) in journalism, political sciences, management, or in related fields of social and human sciences. **Work Experience** - A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in project management **Skills and competencies** - Advanced knowledge of the media and social media landscape and freedom of expression policy developments in particular in relation to online freedom of expression and the curbing of potential harmful content (disinformation, hate speech). - Strong analytical and drafting skills. - Strong oral communication skills; - Ability to work with and in multicultural teams. - Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines. - Ability to be proactive and work independently. - Knowledge of UNESCO’s work and mandate. **Languages** - Excellent knowledge of English. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- **Work Experience** - Previous working experience with the UN. **Languages** - Knowledge of another official United Nations language. **CONTRACT DURATION AND DELIVERABLES** -------------------------------------- **The duration of this contract is of 9 months.** **Expected deliverables :** - Monthly Progress report regarding activities implemented by Field Offices to implement the project *Social Media 4 Peace;* - Bi-monthly report about activities implemented at global level to share the lessons of the project globally (notably at upcoming World Press Freedom Day and RightsCon); - Draft consolidated version of Y3 report to EU; - Draft Description of the action for the potential phase of the Project. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
