BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

The HR Technology and Analytics Branch - HRMOI is responsible for on-going support to critical HR operational processes through the appropriate provision and application of information, processes and enabling technologies. It is also responsible for the developing of the HR Division Technology strategy and roadmap that will support integrated talent management processes, enable full visibility into our global workforce by deploying a technology solution that integrates people processes, data and intelligence from corporate and satellite systems and databases, and will provide workforce analytics and tools to support evidence-based decision making across people-related processes (in particular workforce planning, recruitment, reassignment and deployment to emergencies).

The Branch consists of three teams:

(1) HR Technology Deployment;

(2) HR Systems Administration and Support;

(3) HR Reporting & Analytics.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is under the overall supervision of the Head of HR Systems Administration & Support.

System solutions

  1. Perform analysis of revised/new HR policies and determine the impact on the HR systems.
  2. Monitor the performance of HR systems, analyse errors, and liaise with TEC to seek solutions, or identify workaround solutions.
  3. Prepare business requirements relating to the development of HR system solutions (change requests or fixes).
  4. Test and validate the HR system solutions before implementation.
  5. Prepare internal guidelines and participate in the preparation and delivery of training on system related changes to HR users in HQ

Partnership

  1. Maintain relationships and partner with stakeholders and counterparts (FINP, HRMOG, HRMOP, TEC, and others) to coordinate the successful implementation of the HR system solutions and to ensure that cross-functional processes are in place and functioning as required.

User support

  1. Provide guidance to HR Users in HQ on system functionality and use.
  2. Manage HR queries and follow up actions, to ensure consistent and high-quality HR services are delivered to HR Users in Headquarters.

Payroll support

9. Support with and coordinate (on rotational basis) monthly payroll activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Mathematics or Finance, or First level university degree with additional relevant work experience.

    Experience:

  • At least three to five years of post-graduate professional experience in Human Resources with an interest in international humanitarian development;

    • Experience in conducting business analysis, data analysis and preparing business requirements for system development, in performing testing and system deployment is an added value;

    Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge and exposure to corporate information systems

    • Exposure to SAP HR an advantage.
    • Good knowledge of HR business processes, practices and procedures.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
    • Strong project and time management skills with an ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work on tight deadlines.
    • Ability to produce high-quality written materials, including PowerPoint presentations as well as text documents.
    • Attention to details and strong coordinating skills.

    Languages:

    Fluency in oral and written English and an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
