Overview

Provide technical advice and expertise in graphic design and visual identity.

You have:

  • University degree (bachelor) in graphic or digital design, art, communications or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in graphic design; must include prior experience in brand management, creation of visual identities for campaigns and events.
  • Excellent skills and experience in producing brand guidelines, visual identities and a variety of graphic design assets for events and campaigns.
  • Excellent skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
  • Track record of producing graphic design assets for international events and conferences.
  • UX and UI design skills.
  • Illustration skills including prior experience in producing original illustrations on scientific topics.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) an asset.

Organizational Setting

The Director General's Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States' needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.

The Office of Public Information and Communication (OPIC) plays a vital role in advancing the IAEA's mission by delivering objective, accurate, and timely information about the Agency and global nuclear developments. Through strategic communication efforts, OPIC fosters public understanding of the safe, secure, and peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, as well as the IAEA's global roles.

OPIC advises the Director General on media relations, organizes press briefings and interviews, develops digital platforms and campaigns, and coordinates communication activities across the Agency. It supports major IAEA events and conferences by managing media engagement, creative content production and ensures effective internal communication within the organization. The Office also manages the Agency's Visitor Centre and related outreach activities to attract and engage visitors.

The Web, Digital Media and Public Information Materials Section, operating under OPIC, holds corporate responsibility for editorial oversight, content creation, digital media outreach and campaigns, and the development of information products. It manages the Agency's platforms for both internal and external communication, as well as the Seibersdorf Visitor Centre (SVC). The Section plays a key role in enhancing the IAEA's visibility and public engagement by producing high-quality web and social media content in multiple languages, including public information campaigns, graphic design, and outreach to educational institutions for guided tours of the SVC. Through strong corporate branding and compelling storytelling, it supports the Agency's communication objectives and strengthens public awareness and understanding of the IAEA's mission and activities.

Main Purpose

The consultant will provide technical advice and expertise with the aim to maximize IAEA's communication and outreach efforts through targeted, diverse digital visual products such as: social media visuals and stories, infographics/data visualization, animated visuals, among others.

Functions / Key Results Expected

Working under the supervision of the Section Head, and in close collaboration with technical staff across the organization, the consultant's primary tasks include the following:

  • Develop visual identities, brand guidelines and graphic design assets for priority events and campaigns. These should incorporate IAEA's branding requirements, including colors, fonts, logo usage, and design principles. Work with communications teams across the agency to implement the brand guidelines, providing advice, quality control and hands-on guidance.
  • Develop graphic design assets and original illustrations on complex scientific topics for dissemination in print and digital marketing materials.
  • Advise the web team on refreshing web banners and website design including UX and UI interfaces.
  • Develop interactive visual artworks for key campaigns and events, including exhibits, event branding and venue brand assets.
  • Develop standardized templates for public information and outreach materials such as flyers, posters and brochures.
  • Work to tight deadlines to a high standard.

Qualifications and Experience

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 280, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
