**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Communication and Information Sector (CI) Duty Station: Havana Job Family: Communication and Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 14-May-2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- During 2019, the UNESCO Regional Office of Culture for Latin America, in partnership with the Cuban network of Community Technological Centers (Joven Club de Computación y Electrónica) developed a programme aimed at training a first cohort of trainers of trainers in the use of MIT App Inventor software for the creation of mobile applications. In 2021, UNESCO will implement a second phase of this initiative in Cuba, aimed at developing more complex skills in primary beneficiaries. After the training, participants are expected to implement intermediate-level courses in their communities. In parallel, a similar capacity-building process will benefit instructors from Community Technology Centers of the Dominican Republic. Long Description ---------------- DUTIES/ TASKS AND EXPECTED RESULTS. Under the supervision of the Communication and Information Program Officer and in collaboration with technical teams from the Community Technological Centers in Cuba and the Dominican Republic, the incumbent shall perform the following tasks: Long Description ---------------- I. Design three (3) virtual courses on mobile apps coding using MIT App Inventor software: one (1) basic level course and one (1) intermediate level course for the Dominican Republic, and one (1) intermediate level course for Cuba. Each course length should not exceed 50 hrs (including both face-to-face virtual sessions and independent work). Each course will be delivered to groups of up to 30 participants. At the end of each course, participants should be able to develop a mobile app that provides a solution to a local sustainable development priority. Long Description ---------------- II. Develop original course materials and/or provide students with a repository of open access learning materials. III. Deliver the courses according to the schedule bilaterally agreed with technical teams in each country. IV.
