UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary supports UNICEF operations globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology, and part of the services is the development of Learning & Development material for UNICEF staff globally.

The Global Shared Services Center has approximately 380 staff. Our first level of managers, a group of approximately 40 colleagues, are often in their first managerial role. We aim to develop a yearlong programme to support the transition into successful management.

How can you make a difference?

This consultancy aims to develop and deliver a programme for the development of knowledge and skills required in supervising staff. It will include training development and regular face-to-face and virtual sessions with participants throughout a ‘new people manager’ program. The principles of peer-to-peer learning will be central to the program. Following topics will be covered for the programme:

  • Importance of management
  • Supportive career conversations
  • Managing performance
  • Improving engagement in difficult times
  • Managing for Greater Efficiency
  • Supporting well-being of team members and teams
  • Closure and Celebration

This will involve (TOR):

  1. Design of the programme: a fully designed package delivered via OneDrive that includes all materials to be used in the support of the programme delivered (i.e., PowerPoint and Word).

The program will cover:

  • Bi-Monthly face-to-face peer learning seminars (Outline and PPT with activities to support peer-to-peer, discussion prompts, and expected outcomes)
  • Bi-Monthly 1-hour webinars for participants during in-between months (visual PPT with speaker’s script)
  • Monthly emails pre-scripted for each topic
  • Formative and summative evaluation drafts
  • Marketing materials and yammer updates to maintain engagement in the program
  • Overall schedule and system for monitoring progress
  • Estimated to be completed in February, adjustable in conversation with the hiring manager based on contract start date.

  1. Preparation and facilitation of a bi-monthly 90-minute face-to-face session, preparing and sending related email of the month to include additional learning support activities from LinkedIn learning or other learning resources, and preparing, recommending, and posting weekly related yammer updates.

6 of these are expected throughout 2023 (one every bi-monthly basis, starting from February)

  1. Launching and analysis of formative evaluation

This is one time around April or May, to be discussed with hiring manager

  1. Launching and analysis of summative evaluation, and preparing a summative report of the programme experience to include recommendations for improvement

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

  • A university degree in Social Sciences is required.
  • At least 5 years’ prior experience in instructional design including work samples that demonstrate both online and virtual development experience.
  • Prior experience in peer-to-peer learning design and delivering a peer-to-peer or coaching learning programme, preferably with the UN.
  • Demonstration of excellent skills in project management, learning programme management and English written communication
