You have:

  • Advanced university degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, New Media.
  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, digital marketing, broadcast, digital fundraising and/or new media.
  • At least two years of direct experience managing digital communication channels (web and social media channels).
  • Experience in creating and curating digital and social media content in an international context.
  • Understanding of Social Media Listening.
  • Two years of international and/or international field experience is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language an asset.

Under the guidance of the Communication Specialist (Digital Media), the Social Media Consultant is responsible for creating compelling social media strategies, content and campaigns (copy + visual assets) with a special focus on positioning the UNICEF PFP Thought Leadership’s accounts (LinkedIn and Twitter) during key moments of the year: such as SDG Report; State of the World children’s Report, UNGA, COP28, WEF24. The consultant will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing dynamic, interactive and meaningful social media content strategies to respond to the priorities of UNICEF PFP in accordance with supervisor also to finalize social media packages adaptable also for PFP markets and global branded channels (LinkedIn and Twitter). Additionally, they will coordinate closely with colleagues on digital communication, partnerships engagement, monitoring and analysis, and moderation of platforms. They will support implementing digital tactics under guidance of the Communication Specialist (Digital media) and they will also support on relevant requests of Marketing and PR services for fundraising team, UNICEF National Committees and PSFR Country offices.

How can you make a difference?

Reporting to the Communication Specialist (Digital Media) of the PR and media services for fundraising team, the Social Media Consultant will be responsible for driving the planning, development, and implementation of dynamic and interactive social media content strategies for UNICEF PFP. The consultant will work closely with the PFP Marketing and PR team and other stakeholders to develop and execute social media campaigns that help raise funds and increase visibility for high-value donors and corporate donors.

The scope of work for the Social Media Consultant – in relation to SDG Report launch, State of the World children’s Report launch, UNGA, COP28, WEF24 - will include:

1. Social media content strategies for UNICEF PFP priorities (SDG Report; State of the World children’s Report, UNGA, COP28, WEF24)

  • Develop a comprehensive plan for social media content focused on fundraising goals and increasing visibility and donor recognition for high-value donors and corporate donors. (Identifying Objectives, channels, planned actions and KPIs)
  • Ensure the content is dynamic, interactive, and meaningful to UNICEF's PFP target audience.
  • Propose conversation calendars among PFP stakeholders and identified partners. (LinkedIn and Twitter)
  • Provide regular progress updates and adjust the strategy as needed to meet the changing needs of the organization and its stakeholders.
  1. Social media packs (copies and visuals) for LinkedIn and Twitter:
  • Write engaging social media copies that clearly convey key messages and effectively reach UNICEF's PFP target audience during calendar moments relevant for Big Ticket Items.
  • Produce visually appealing and impactful visuals that complement the social media copies and that resonates well on LinkedIn and Twitter channels.
  • Ensure the social media packs are delivered on time and meet the quality standards set by the organization.
  • Help developing Hashtags Strategies when needed.

3. Social media content for UNICEF Thought Leadership pages.

  • Write high-quality, engaging content for UNICEF Thought Leadership private accounts on LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Support Communication Specialist (Digital Media) with recognition and visibility requests
  • Ensure the content aligns with UNICEF's PFP priorities and effectively reaches the target audience.
  • Provide regular updates on the content performance and make necessary adjustments to improve its effectiveness.

4. Analytics reports and recommendations on improving UNICEF PFP Thought Leadership digital presence.

  • Analyze the performance of social media channels and provide regular analytics reports to management making use of a set of tools owned by the consultant.
  • Make recommendations on how to improve digital presence and reach target audience more effectively.
  • Ensure all reports are delivered on time and meet the quality standards set by the organization.
  • Provide benchmark analysis with comparators’ leaders accounts.

5. Community management and moderation strategy

  • Play a supporting role in the development of a comprehensive community management and moderation strategy for UNICEF's PFP Thought Leadership social media channels.
  • Highlight potential risks and propose actions to mitigate them.
  • Ensure the strategy is updated at least one time per each quarter and that all moderation activities are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support communication specialists with adaptation of Social Media guidance for National Committees in accordance with DGCA during potential crisis

6. Mapping of comparator landscape and benchmarking across social media platforms.

  • Keep track of efforts and activities from other UN agencies, nonprofits, and competitors, providing the team with a monthly report on most engaging content on Twitter and Linkedin generated by leaders and branded accounts. Map the competitor landscape and develop benchmarks across social media platforms.

7. Training materials and guidelines for social media and digital fundraising.

  • Be part of the PR and marketing services for fundraising Section's capacity building work, with a focus on social media training and digital governance, organizing 4 webinars throughout the year.
  • Update senior staff onboarding presentations with relevant information on LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Help create training materials and guidelines for social media and digital fundraising, conducting a 1 webinar per quarter on how to.

WORK ASSIGNMENT – DELIVERABLES:

  • DELIVERABLES 1: 4 digital communications strategies developed
  • DELIVERABLES 2: 4-6 social media packs finalized
  • DELIVERABLES 3: Weekly content suggestions for PFP Thought leaders’ channels proposed and used (copy + visuals) per channels = at least 12 messages per month per leader, 36 messages per month
  • DELIVERABLES 4: 1 monthly report produced and shared with Specialist, total of 12 per year
  • DELIVERABLES 5: 4 updates on the moderation guidance provided and shared
  • DELIVERABLES 6: provide monthly reports with key insights on comparators, total of 12 reports
  • elevate LinkedIn presence of UNICEF PFP staff willing to engage on HVM.
  • DELIVERABLES 7: 4 webinars on how to elevate LinkedIn presence in 12 months

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, New Media
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two years of experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree

Experience:

  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, digital marketing, broadcast, digital fundraising and/or new media.
  • At least two years of direct experience managing digital communication channels (web and social media channels with mandatory experience on developing copy and visuals assets for LinkedIn and Twitter).
  • Experience in creating and curating digital and social media content in an international context.
  • Prior content strategy/management experience working with a global organization, especially working on projects of similar scale, involving multiple users and groups.
  • Understanding of Social Media Listening
  • Ability to shape editorial and system content planning from initial strategy to implementation and post-launch optimization and reporting
  • Knowledge of current best practices in digital communication strategy and engagement and knowledge of best in class digital media platforms.
  • Two years of international and/or international field experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of United Nations or other international aid or NGOs is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of world affairs, current events and development issues needed.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language an asset.
