BACKGROUND

The UNICEF Digital Community - Yammer Engagement, Features and Best Practices will help build value in our nearly 22,000-person plus global network of digital communities that accelerate knowledge exchange, communication, and engagement around the globe for UNICEF. As part of Microsoft’s updates and innovations, there is a constant flow of new features and enhancements added to Yammer to improve the user experience with hybrid collaboration, including the migration to Native mode and Office 365 Connected groups.

The Consultant will support the Knowledge Management Specialist by actively following the evolution of the Microsoft technical road-map for Yammer enhancements, crafting, and curating simple tips, tricks and best practices, promoting the effective use of the platform, and amplifying content to drive maximum engagement. The Consultant will work in synergy with the UNICEF Community managers and members in Child Protection, Nutrition and Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP) providing coaching to foster real-time communication and peer-to-peer learning around key priorities. The Consultant will also directly support the team to engage daily with 22,000 users inside the UNICEF Community, including responding to queries and comments to make connections, amplifying Child Protection, Nutrition and ADAP related content.

Terms of Reference / Deliverables

In close collaboration and working with the Knowledge Management Specialist/Digital Communities lead the Consultant is responsible for delivering the following tasks:

  • Biweekly craft and curate Yammer tips and guidance about new features
  • Help craft 2 Yammer Guides to New Features - A collection of short tips, features and examples to illustrate the successful use of Yammer at UNICEF with a focus on best practices in Child Protection, Nutrition in Emergencies and ADAP.
  • Help document technical features of M365 Yammer Connected groups and prepare guidance for users’ migration to Yammer Native Platform mode
  • Work with the team to ensure the Child Protection and ADAP communities are activated, branded and effectively managed to cover, deliver and amplify the most compelling stories (content) of UNICEF’s work across the globe in the UNICEF Community (All Company Feed).
  • Targeted coaching of selected community members and leaders on how effectively use Yammer (one-on-one and group based virtual sessions to build capacity and guide colleagues)
  • Synthesize topical community narratives focused on Child Protection, Nutrition in Emergencies, and ADAP, produce and amplify content to drive maximum engagement.
  • Support execution of Digital Community strategy and action plan.
  • Support organization and documentation of 3 topical Ask me Anything virtual events.

Qualifications

(1) Education

  • University degree in Social Science, Communication, Media, and/or another related field
  • Proficiency in social media and collaboration channels (internal and external), Office 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe and other relevant programs
  • Fluency in English. Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a plus

2) Work experience

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national and
  • international levels in communication, social media, and marketing.
  • At least 5 years of work managing internal or external online communities (Yammer,
  • Jive, Workplace by Facebook, Twitter, or a combination of similar platforms)
  • Experience curating community content (e.g., building digital content, creating online
  • campaigns or polls, creating an event series and writing an email newsletter)
  • Excellent communication, management, coaching and writing skills
  • Ability to interpret online traffic and online engagement metrics using SWOOP Analytics
  • Ability to comfortably liaise directly with senior leadership, technology practitioners, and global staff

Requirements****:

  • Completed profile in UNICEF's e-Recruitment system and provide Personal History Form (P11) Upload copy of academic credentials
  • Financial proposal that will include:
  • your daily/monthly rate (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference
    • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
    • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
    • Indicate your availability
  • Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
  • At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
  • Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
