Scope of Work:

The medical insurance plans, workers’ compensation, medical evacuation, and special education grant/special dependency allowance are all key components of medical entitlements offered by UNICEF to its staff. Given the numerous inquiries received from staff regarding the policies, it is crucial to revise and update available external information as well as create easy to read infographics answering common queries as well as short videos offering insights to the various policies.

The part-time consultant will work directly with the Human Resources Manager of the Social Security Pillar (PERCS) in the Division of Human Resources to create infographics as well as actively reach out to colleagues in communications to prepare and share informational videos.

In particular, the part-time consultant will:

-Develop infographics relevant to the Social Benefits pillar for ease of comprehension of extensive and detailed medical insurance policies

-Create audio voice-overs for current and new infographics on Social Benefits page to allow for user-friendliness

-Produce educational videos regarding Social Benefits topics to present during webinars and staff meetings, as well as post to Social Benefits webpage for ease of access

-Develop and present informational webinars pertaining to the UNICEF medical insurance

-In collaboration with Cigna partners, work to strengthen staff knowledge about UNICEF MIP

-Work with Social Benefits pillar to routinely update information regarding medical insurance on the Social Benefits webpage

-Provide support to the PERCS’ Policy pillar with reviewing Outside Activity requests

-Work with Policy pillar to review country audit reports as necessary

-Assist Policy pillar to review and revise policies as needed

How can you make a difference?

Working with the Social Benefits team in order to create infographics and informational videos on matters related to medical insurance, workers’ compensation, medical evacuation, support of staff parents of children with special needs.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) Public Health, Law, International Relations, Business Administration or related field. A minimum of 2 of relevant professional experience
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Have a good knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications
  • Infographic design/webpage design with knowledge of public health, medical insurance and medical evacuation processes.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage projects, multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • An understanding of how UNICEF functions and some knowledge of the HR systems, policies and procedures.
  • Candidates who are already residing in the US will be given preference.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
