BACKGROUND

Save the Children Indonesia (SC IDN) is a thought leader organization who articulates what children say, works for them and generates evidence about what works for children in its program implementation and policy influence/advocacy. SC IDN gained the status as an Associate Member Country in November 2019. In 2021, SC IDN’s Board of Patron has approved the transformation towards a Diversified Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) business model. It is in its journey to becoming a Full Member status and contribute to Save the Children’s global target and priority of tripling impact, to achieve the 2030 ambition for children in Indonesia.

In support of this vision, SC IDN is developing an innovative approach to tripling impact, called Ecosystem Convener model, focusing on working with more partners and together creating collective impact. Ecosystem convener model will focus on developing network of partners, setting common agenda, and agreeing on collaboration roles and responsibilities to tackle challenges issues for children in Indonesia. This model will be incubated and tested for the next few years to prove its relevancies for under SC IDN’s Innovation Sandbox.

Currently, SC IDN is working with a Collective Impact & Innovation Expert (Phase 1) to develop the blueprint and design of the eco-convening model based on learning from the Circular Genius Project in Makssar and the Sumba Learning Hub initiative in Sumba. To support the implementation of the design, testing, and piloting of the model in Sumba, SC IDN requires the support of an external collaborator (consultant) as an Innovation & Impact Specialist.

OBJECTIVES

Report to the Impact and Innovation Expert and work closely with the Head of Partnership, National Innovation Consultant and Makasar Field Manager, teams across the departments in the Makasar Project, and implementing partners. The Consultant is expected to lead the testing and piloting of the Ecosystem Convener master concept in Makasar.

SCOPE OF WORK

  1. Support the Impact and Innovation Expert in the design of a master concept for SC IDN’s Ecosystem Convener model​, including the identification of procedures, methods, and tools required for the model.
  2. Support the Impact and Innovation Expert in developing a master plan and timeline to test and refine the Ecosystem Convener model in Makasar
  3. Support the Impact and Innovation Expert to align the existing program design with the proposed master concept and plan​ throughout the model's test and refinement phase.
  4. Support the Impact and Innovation Expert in collaborating with Circular Genius to align the plans and activities with the Innovation Sandbox transformation pathway.
  5. Lead the implementation of the piloting and testing of the eco-convening model at the Makasar.
  6. Collaborate with other SC IDN teams in the Makasar Office (especially the program and MEAL unit) and implementing partners throughout the assignment to align priorities, capture learnings, and share knowledge.
  7. Facilitate discussions and workshops with stakeholders to implement the piloting and testing of the eco-convening model.
  8. Actively involved in the discussion in identifying relevant procedures, methods, and tools​ with the Save the Children global team.
  9. Capture learnings, develop knowledge products to document the learnings, and share/disseminate the learnings to wider SC IDN teams
  10. Other tasks as necessary and agreed beforehand with the Supervisor and the organization

REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in any field of study. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in innovation and or entrepreneurship.
  • Experience using the approach and tools of Human Centered Design.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously as well as in a team
  • Project management skills.
  • Good facilitation skills.
  • Experience in using online discussion and digital workshop tools.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Background and experience in youth, teacher and school principal engagement activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Self-motivated and highly flexible individual who can manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Fluency in English both oral and written.
  • Experience in establishing communication and partnerships with CBOs, NGOs, the government, communities, and organizations.
