Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Software Deployment (SD), Software Deployment and Technical Training Team (SDTT), Software Products for Member States Unit (SPMS), Information Technology Service (ITS) within the Division for Management (DM) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Team Leader Software Deployment Team and overall guidance of the Chief of the Software Products for Member States Unit. The ITS/SPMS team is responsible for the development of sustainable and affordable IT solutions and to make these solutions available to key governments institutions of Member States. This position will focus on improving the quality of the software.

Responsibilities The incumbent will be responsible for developing software and providing solutions to improve the software quality. S/he will perform the following specific duties:

•Develop, test and debug windows applications, web applications and web services using Microsoft .NET technologies (ASP.NET, Windows Forms, C#), T-SQL, Entity Framework, WebApi, and Angular (2+), in addition to other basic technologies such as: HTML, JavaScript. •Participate in the development of cycle processes and implement criteria that incorporate Quality Assurance (QA). •Propose, develop and build test automation frameworks (automated tests to be developed in industry standard tools, some examples may be but not limited to these: Protractor, Jasmine, Selenium, Appium, Ranorex or others). •Develop, implement and maintain automated test infrastructure to increase efficiency of the testing processes, implement means of regression test automation in TFS test plans or TFS/Azure pipelines. •Review requirements, specifications, and other project documentation to assure quality of the products and identify relevant automated tests to be developed. •Support manual QA testing efforts in conversion of manual test cases into automated ones. •Perform any other work-related duties as required.

Has knowledge of Microsoft .NET/C#, JavaScript, HTML, SQL language, database administration, database administration concepts including MS SQL, configuration, performance, security. Has good technical/coding skills, the ability to participate in development and maintenance of applications and to provide user support. Is able to create and update test automation standards, policies and test scripts. Is able to focus on quality, has a ‘test-to-break’ attitude and good analytical and testing skills. Demonstrate initiative in the identification and resolution of issues/problems. Is able to analyse and interpret programme and project performance data and is able to draft reports. Education High School Diploma or equivalent. International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification or the equivalent working experience is desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of seven years of relevant technical experience in systems analysis, development and programming using Microsoft .NET/C#, ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET MVC, SQL is required. Experience in the development and maintenance of applications and provision of user support is required. Strong experience with automation frameworks and automation tools is required. Experience developing and executing manual and automated test suites is required. Experience in creating and updating test automation standards, policies and test scripts is required. Experience with building tools such as Microsoft TFS is desirable. Practical experience and knowledge of Microsoft Test Manager, Selenium or Test Complete is desirable. Profound experience in testing Stored Procedures, Entity Framework, Microsoft .NET/C#, Windows Forms, WebApi, and Angular (2+). Certification in C#.NET technologies is desirable. Experience of working with Windows forms development is desirable. Experience in Windows WPF, SOA, XML is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include a technical test and a competency-based interview.

Other Skills and Requirements Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat.
