Community Specialist for Foundations team in Greater China and North Asia

Each with its own unique model, the Foundations support and advance the work of global changemakers, young leaders, and social innovators around the world.

The Foundations bring together a diverse and committed group of people, spanning more than 150 countries, to address the most pressing challenges of our time. To amplify their impact and attract new supporters, we are seeking a Specialist to support our communications and partnership outreach.

The Forum Foundations team is currently seeking a Community Specialist based in China. This role is designed to strengthen the Foundations programme offerings to community members and to collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment to and achievement of the Foundation’s vision and mission.

Reporting Lines & Interactions:

The Community Specialist, Greater China, will be based in the World Economic Forum’s Beijing Representative Office, reporting to the Community Lead. The Community Specialist is responsible for magnifying the impact of Foundations’ Community in Greater China, through developing and implementing the YGL executive education modules, rebooting the alumni network, and championing the excellence of communication in the Chinese language.

Main responsibilities:

Community Engagement (40%)

  • Assist the Community Lead in implementing the long-term engagement strategies for the Foundations team in the Greater China and North Asia regions
  • Assist the Community Lead to implement strategic approach to identify and manage key relationships to advance the excellence of the Foundations team in the region
  • Support the Community Lead to design and coordinate community events and activities of the communities (including alumni), and deliver in collaboration with team members
  • Be responsible for the community management, including digital management and operational requests of community members in the region

Programme (40%)

  • Research, scope, and scout top universities partners in the region for long-term partnership with the YGL community’s executive education modules
  • Design, develop, and implement modules programme with the support of university partners
  • Assist the Community Lead to identify potential sponsors for new education modules
  • Manage external relationships with university partners, donors and other relevant stakeholders.

Impact (20%)

  • Assist the Community Lead in the annual YGL Selection process for Greater China and North Asia to expand the regional diversity of community
  • Liaise with the Forum’s Public Engagement Team to create compelling content and thought leadership pieces representing the communities in Greater China to the public in Chinese language
  • Collaborate with the Forum’s Government Engagement Team to strengthen the relationship with key government stakeholders
  • Work with the Forum’s Business Engagement Team to identify potential YGL candidates and expand the partnership base
  • Collaborate with the Forum’s centre team initiatives to engage more community members into the workstreams in Greater China

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Ability to research and evaluate various executive modules from a diverse range of university partners
  • Stewardship of potential donors and university partners
  • Sourcing and creation of quality content for community materials, social media, and reports
  • Productive and positive engagement within The Global Shapers and The Forum of Young Global Leaders teams

Preferred requirements and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and master's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of professional experience, including roles with community management experience working with or in leadership development or universities a plus
  • Proven track record of delivering events, partnership development and management
  • Experience communicating with both internal and external audiences of varying levels of seniority
  • Attention to detail & perseverance
  • Team-player and self-starter, who enjoys working in a highly dynamic setting with a matrix environment
  • Native-level proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English; other languages is an asset
