Overview

Develop and manage FAO's social media presence and campaigns.

You have:

  • University degree in communication, social science, journalism, political science or a related field
  • 1 year (Level C) or 5 years (Level B) of relevant experience in digital communication and content production for digital platforms
  • Working knowledge (Level C) of English and limited knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish)
  • Full fluency in written English
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and/or design tools such as Canva is desirable

Organizational Setting

The Office of Communications (OCC) is responsible for both external and internal communications of the Organization. It aims at making FAO’s communications strategic, coherent, focused and impactful, while ensuring effectiveness and efficiency in communication-related operations

Reporting Lines

The Consultant/PSA.SBS will report directly to Communications Officer (Head of Social Media), under the general supervision of the Chief of the Digital and Multimedia Branch (OCCI).

Tasks and responsibilities

In close collaboration with OCC branches and focal points, the incumbent will: • Contribute to the development and strengthening of social media presence, in a strategic and coordinated manner across all platforms managed by the Office of Communications. • Support on digital campaigns, including drafting of campaign strategies, overseeing production of content related to the campaign, creating content plans and producing final evaluation reports. • Develop, review, proofread and provide clearance for a wide range of communication materials for use on FAO’s social media channels, ensuring consistency with FAO’s key messages, terminology and style. • Contributes to the daily management of FAO’s English presence on social media platforms such as Facebook/Instagram/LinkedIn/X. This includes:  Regular posting of content on the platforms as key means of mobilizing support for FAO and its work at an international level by producing and identifying suitable content available on FAO website and preparing postings, taking decisions on behalf of the Organization on the content posted and the impact on FAO’s image. This also includes, and is not limited to, responding to queries, ensuring compliance of corporate social media accounts to the social media policy, regularly providing feedback to the account managers based in HQ, Regional and country offices.  Drafting and reviewing copies for other corporate channels in English.  Supporting the clearance for new corporate X accounts and Facebook pages, in compliance with the social media policy.  Being an active promoter of FAO’s work in social media spaces to promote the image and messages of the Organization and engage with online audiences. • Provide recommendations on what can be done to improve digital influencer related social media content and activities.

• Support the overall social media marketing strategy for FAO by:  Managing marketing strategy for key FAO campaigns on X/Meta.  Supporting country offices in managing their Facebook pages and marketing campaigns.  Researching and vetting influencers for key FAO campaigns and carry out influencer marketing on Facebook and X. • Work with graphic designers to produce content for digital channels and campaigns. • Support the formulation of the corporate social media policy, influencer engagement strategy, encouraging the adoption of digital trends across the Organization. Minimum Requirements

• University degree in in communication, social science, journalism, political science or a related field • 1 year (Level C) or 5 years (Level B) of relevant experience in digital communication and content production for digital platforms. • For consultants, working knowledge (Level C) of English and limited knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish). For PSAs, working knowledge (Level C) of one of FAO’s official languages. Level B of another language is desirable.

• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is desirable • Extent and relevance of experience in the field of communication services for prominent organizations, particularly at the international level. • Extent and relevance of experience in producing high-quality digital and multimedia materials for a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and audiences. • Extent and relevance of experience in managing and monitoring multilingual social media channels and campaigns including knowledge of back-end technologies required. • Demonstrated experience in handling corporate social media accounts across multiple language

Selection Criteria

• Level, extent and relevance of experience with social media, social media campaigns, influencer marketing, digital marketing, monitoring and evaluation. • Ability to participate and work in a team under tight deadlines. • Demonstrated experience working in complex environments. • Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple work streams. • Depth of English language skills: full fluency in written English. • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and/or design tools such as Canva is desirable.
