JOB PURPOSE

The Communications Associate will be responsible for providing specialized communications services in support of the achievement of the WFP’s Country Strategic Plan (2021 – 2025). The purpose of communication materials and events is to both strengthen partnerships and raise the profile of WFP Indonesia with key stakeholders to contribute to achieving WFP Indonesia short, medium and long-term objectives.

In 2021 WFP Indonesia launched its Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2021-2025, which is fully aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2021-2025 and the Government’s Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024. Through this its CSP WFP engages in policy dialogue and provides technical assistance in partnership with and support of the Government of Indonesia. WFP Indonesia supports the Government to achieve its mid-term and long-term SDG targets with a focus on Food Security and Nutrition Analysis, Social Protection, Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation, and addressing malnutrition through healthy diets, and food systems transformation.

Under the direct supervision of Head of Strategy Partnership and Communication and overall responsibility of the Country Director, the incumbent will collaborate with multi sector programme units, and with senior management. On a daily basis, the service contract holder is expected to work independently demonstrating initiative to respond responsibly to complex queries.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. In consultation with the Head of Strategy, Partnerships and Communication, provide direct support to programme teams, in the development, preparation, execution and dissemination of communication materials to achieve programme objectives. 2. In collaboration with supervisor, support the finalization and regular update of country office wide Strategic Communication Plan, in line with WFP corporate guidance. 3. As per the strategic communications plan, regularly seek to implement improvements to communications methods and practices, to contribute to a better flow of information about WFP’s work to stakeholders, including media. 4. Conduct research, suggest ideas, and provide coordination support to ensure the timely and effective delivery of muti media materials (photographic, video, web content) 5. Manage the storage and distribution of audio/visual materials in accordance with relevant policies. 6. Function as a focal point to support the media coverage of events (to optimize contribution of media to achieving programmatic aims. 7. Support the design and implementation of special events, working closely with the supervisor, colleagues, external partners and media, to ensure events are effectively scheduled, publicized and attended. 8. Keep WFP Indonesia web content up to date as per corporate guidance. 9. Monitor traditional and social media, daily and report relevant information to supervisor and management, keeping them informed of the development. Support with the evaluation of communications activities and strategies. 10. Support the enhancement of coverage of WFP’s activities consistent with programmatic priorities, corporate position and messages. 11. Under guidance, prepare content for use on traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials. 12. Support, distribute, promote communications guidelines for WFP staff when creating context, providing regular updates as required, and on boarding of new staff. 13. Any other duties in line with expertise and job context.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate(s) in the related functional area.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station.

Working experience: Five (5) years of relevant working experience
