Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

UNICEF’s overall strategic approach in Kosovo is to ensure that the rights of children are identified and attended to, either directly or through advocacy with partners and relevant Kosovo institutions. UNICEF is in the first year of the implementation of the five-year programme cycle covering the period of 2021-2025. The programme focuses on three key flagship priorities that include: advancing early childhood development and education; social inclusion of children with disabilities and increased participation and empowerment of young people.

In line with the priorities outlined in UNICEF Kosovo Programme 2021-2025, the consultancy aims to increase the engagement of private sector and influencers to achieve greater results for children and young people in Kosovo through supporting partnerships initiatives and strengthening the communication mechanisms.

Scope of Work:

Under the overall supervision of the Communication and Partnership Officer, the Consultant will support UNICEF Kosovo Office to plan, develop and coordinate the realization of the office priorities in engaging with private sector and influencers, including diaspora. Within the scope of the work, the key expected outputs include:

  • Develop a comprehensive action plan for engagement of private sector with focus on the three key programme priorities, informed by a situation analysis and updated desk review.
  • Engage with the private sector companies to promote the ECD mobile application (5 private sector companies and 3,000 individuals to download the app).
  • Develop 10 visibility materials acknowledging private sector support to UNICEF Kosovo Programme.
  • Develop, support, and monitor the implementation of the action plan based on recommendations deriving from the internship study.
  • Develop and implement social media strategy on three key programme priorities which will result with 20% increase of followers in Facebook and 10% increase of followers in twitter accounts during this consultancy timeframe.
  • Develop thank you profiles for the private sector entities contributing to the realization of children’s rights communication materials to expand media and visibility outreach, and take an active role in identifying, approaching, and negotiating relationships with key influencers and business.
  • Leverage the non-financial ways of collaboration and engagement of key influencers and businesses on UNICEF Kosovo programme key priorities, more specifically on Team Rijad and ECD mobile application initiatives.
  • Support establishment of the business reference group and ensure follow-up meetings

Minimum Qualifications required:

Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Mass Communication or Social Studies (Management, Economics etc.)

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

• Formal education in communication, mass communication or social studies preferable. • Good knowledge and experience in developing visual items, and other relevant skills. • Excellent command in English. • Available in short notice for the consultancy opportunity. • Excellent multi-tasker who can work both independently and with a team or supervisor. • Social Media savvy in Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
