UNICEF Lao PDR works to advance the rights and well-being of every child, focusing on health, education, nutrition, child protection, and social inclusion. In an increasingly digital landscape, effective communication and meaningful youth engagement are critical to amplifying UNICEF’s impact. This assignment supports UNICEF’s efforts to strengthen digital outreach and empower young people as active participants in advocacy and development initiatives. The UN University Volunteer will contribute to the creation and management of digital content that highlights UNICEF’s programmes and achievements, while supporting youth-led activities such as the Youth Advocacy Guide, Youth Champions initiative, and UpShift bootcamps. The role will involve collaboration with key partners, including the Lao Youth Union, and will play a part in promoting youth participation in climate action and civic engagement. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communications and youth development within an international organization.
Under the direct supervision of Chief of Communication and Advocacy, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Digital Content Creation & Management • Support the creation of engaging, timely digital content aligned with UNICEF's mission, focusing on key programme areas such as education, nutrition, immunization, and social behavior change (SBC). • Assist in managing UNICEF Laos' digital platforms, including social media channels and the website, ensuring consistent content updates. Monitoring, Reporting & Donor Visibility • Monitor and analyze social media and website performance, contributing to monthly reports with key insights and recommendations. • Support donor visibility efforts by ensuring systematic tagging and acknowledgment of donor contributions across digital content, and assist in preparing donor-specific reports. Campaigns and Special Initiatives • Assist in planning and executing digital campaigns, advocacy initiatives, and global observance events, in coordination with UNICEF regional and global teams. Youth Engagement Support • Support the implementation of youth-focused initiatives such as the Youth Advocacy Guide, Youth Champions program, and UpShift bootcamps. • Liaise with key partners, including the Lao Youth Union, to support youth-led activities and events. • Contribute to the development and rollout of the Youth Engagement and Green Rising Plan, promoting youth participation in climate action and civic engagement.
