The Supporter Content Team in the Communication and Marketing Section at UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnership (PFP) division seeks the services of an experienced Communications Officer (Multimedia) to produce compelling and engaging emergency-related visual content that can deliver on income, influence and brand recognition for the organization.

The communications officer (Multimedia) will be a key member of the Supporter Content Team and will work closely with relevant stakeholders in PFP, in particular the Emergency Task Force members and the Fundraising and Marketing Services Unit in the Individual Giving Team to produce content that will engage potential and current UNICEF supporters (Individuals and High Value) and drive fundraising during sudden onset emergencies and protracted crises, with a particular emphasis on the current global COVID-19 emergency response.

The purpose of the appointment is to provide high quality multimedia services for the Supporter Content Team and relevant fundraising channels related to UNICEF’s emergency work, with a special focus on the COVID-19 emergency. This includes a full scope of visual storytelling such as scriptwriting, photography, videography, video editing and animation with an emphasis on post-production skills.

How can you make a difference?

Reporting to the Communications Manager of the Supporter Content team and working closely with stakeholders including the Emergency Task Force members and the Fundraising and Marketing Services Unit (as needed during a global emergency IG fundraising activation), the selected candidate will be required to undertake the following tasks:

1. Multimedia (photo, video, editing) Production during Sudden Onset Emergencies (during first 72 hours and beyond):

  • Produce visual content that will drive engagement during a sudden onset emergency (social media content e.g. edited videos, video broll, info graphs etc.)
  • Produce digital content for Individual Giving fundraising purposes (carasols, banners, videos with CTA) when a global Sudden Onset IG fundraising effort is activated, as needed
  • Produce multimedia material that recognizes support provided by donors for UNICEF’s emergency work (e.g. thank you videos) for both individual and High Value donors as needed
  • Produce multimedia material (new/ repurposed) that mark the anniversaries of sudden onset emergencies including 1 month, 100 days, 1 year, as needed.
  • Where necessary film UNICEF’s work in the field and edit these into powerful and compelling video stories for fundraising channels and engagement channels
  • Where necessary photograph UNICEF’s work in the field and compile a selection of compelling photographs and captions that can be used for fundraising channels and engagement channels

2. Multimedia (photo, video, editing) Production for Protracted Emergencies:

  • Produce multimedia content for engagement and fundraising purposes during key moments relevant for National Committee such as anniversaries of a crisis e.g. Syria @ 10 (broll, videos, photo essays)
  • Produce multimedia repurposed to showcase the impact of UNICEFs work in protracted emergencies such as Yemen, Syrian, South Sudan, and CAR and others.
  • Produce multimedia material that recognizes support provided by donors (e.g. thank you videos) for both individual and High Value donors, as needed
  • Where necessary film UNICEF’s work in the field and edit these into powerful and compelling video stories for fundraising channels and engagement channels
  • Where necessary photograph UNICEF’s work in the field and compile a selection of compelling photographs and captions that can be used for fundraising channels and engagement channels

3. Virtual Experiences Production Support

  • Support on the production of assets and live events of Virtual Experiences covering Sudden-Onset emergencies, and other relevant thematic topics by editing videos
  • Providing back up technical support as needed e.g. recordings, editing and packaging virtual, live production support

4. Technical advice and quality control

  • Ensure quality of outputs in all content products, alignment with UNICEF brand and engagement objectives
  • Advise the team on trends relating to latest software and audio/visual equipment
  • Ensure all audio/visual equipment is well-maintained, workflow is streamlined, and archiving is done and uploaded onto Web share.

DELIVERABLES

  • All photographic, video and animation projects are delivered timeously and according to UNICEF ethical and technical guidelines
  • The Communication Manager is kept up to date with the latest trends in audio/visual equipment, software, and workflow systems.
  • All material is backed up and uploaded onto Web share.

Education

  • A first level university degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related field.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a multimedia specialist

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Another UN language an advantage
