BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Country Strategic Plan 2024 - 2028 (CSP2.0) has been approved wherein WFP seeks to support national development priorities through four thematic pillars: Emergency Preparedness and response; Nutrition, Food Systems; Social Protection; and On-demand services and protection programmes.

To fully meet its objectives in Ghana, WFP is increasing its ‘enabler’ role by providing capacity strengthening for national institutions and supporting advocacy to improve food security and nutrition outcomes. Efforts to achieve durable zero hunger solutions are largely hinged on:

1. Co-creating with government through augmenting services like institutional capacity strengthening, policy coherence and technical support. 2. Pursuing sustainable financing and optimization in the utilization of available resources. 3. Gender mainstreaming layered in our evidence generation, activity designs and implementation including the selection of the modalities used to provide assistance. 4. Pursuing partnerships that seek to maximize impact taking into consideration accountability to affected populations like youth, women and people living with disabilities. 5. Expanding from providing support to a finite number of people, to all people living in Ghana.

The Communication and Marketing Officer will be under the supervision of the Country Director and will undertake the following:

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conducting a comprehensive analysis to identify the potential synergies among prospective supply partners across diverse sectors, that will offer in-kind awards categorized as food, free mobile credit, subsidies on utilities, technical support, inputs, financial inclusion, education, or direct cash awards among others.
  2. Developing visually appealing and persuasive presentation materials that effectively communicate the value proposition and benefits of partnering with the loyalty platform.
  3. Supporting the animation development to ideate and refine concepts for visually engaging animation videos, ensuring that the messages are delivered in a clear, concise, and captivating manner for the target audience.
  4. Participating in negotiations with potential supply partners to establish mutually beneficial agreements that define the terms of their participation on the loyalty platform.
  5. Actively engaging in collaborative ideation sessions for the development of the gamified version of the loyalty platform exploring innovative ways to share and expose the end users to SBCC messages and reminders of the desired behaviours as well as to create a digital and physical community that supports the same.
  6. Supporting internal teams and stakeholders to produce the final version of the platform logo and organize the award ceremony.
  7. Providing expert advice on crafting and disseminating communication materials related to the loyalty platform, ensuring the development of clear and compelling messages tailored to resonate with different stakeholder groups.
  8. Facilitating the production of donor-specific visibility content, including text, photos, videos, and audio for use across a range of integrated online platforms, in order to support global and country fundraising activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

  1. Pitch decks for demand/ supply partner engagements prepared.
  2. Animation concepts and scripts
  3. Development of Gamified version of the loyalty platform supported.
  4. Development of the Digital Loyalty Platform

Education:

Advanced University degree/master’s degree in one of the following fields: public relations, communications, marketing or first university degree with additional years of related work experience.

Experience:

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of communication, marketing and/or communications sector.

Prior experience in development communications or working with international /donor-funded projects is an advantage.

Languages:

Fluency (level C) in English Language.

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Demonstrated experience in fostering collaboration across different sectors, including public, private, and non-profit organizations.
  2. Proven track record in successful marketing campaigns, preferably in the context of behaviour change or social impact.
  3. Knowledge of and experience in the African context is essential.
  4. Strong communication and engagement skills with good writing, reporting and presentation skills.
  5. Proven ability to network and work with multiple units.
  6. Team player with the ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  7. Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of diplomacy and tact.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This is a When Actually Employed contract (consultancy for a series of sporadic, non-continuous, assignments within a given period of time, whereby the consultant will be called upon when his/her service is required and paid at the agreed daily fee).
