This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

The Regional Programme is structured around five sub-programmes reflecting the priorities identified by Member States: 1) combating organized crime; 2) countering terrorism; 3) combating corruption and financial crimes; 4) strengthening crime prevention and criminal justice and 5) prevention of drug use, treatment and care of drug use disorders and HIV/AIDS prevention and care. In addition, the RP integrates four essential cross-cutting themes into all its work, namely the strengthening of data collection and research; the promotion of regional and international cooperation; the fostering of partnerships with civil society; and the mainstreaming of human rights and gender perspectives. Currently, ROMENA is in the process of having a new Regional Programme designed and developed. The UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) covers 18 countries, for a total of 118 staff members. UNODC Country Office in East Jerusalem has currently 3 national staffs and one International UNV) and a portfolio of four different projects. The UN Youth Volunteer will be interacting with 1) teachers and counselors; 2); Youth and youngsters, psychologists and therapists and 3) national counterparts (e.g. Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior, Higher council of Youth and sports, and Ministry of Health). Constant communication and coordination between UN agencies will also allow the UN Youth Volunteer to deal with UN agencies tackling issue for the benefit of youth, drug users and community. from complementary but different perspectives.

Under the direct supervision of the Youth Project Manager and Head of Office in Jerusalem and the overall guidance from the Regional Representative at UNODC ROMENA in Cairo, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks in order to support UNODC activities in the West Bank and Gaza and to develop new partnerships and advocate for our work and fields with a focus on • Supporting coordination and implementation of the programme’s activities in the West Bank and Gaza. • Contribute to the UNODC technical assistance efforts, focusing on the logistical support. • Work in close coordination with National Counterparts, UNODC staff both in the office and ROMENA to ensure smooth implementation of activities. • Support with producing high-quality programme progress reports as per UNODC and donor requirements • Organizing and managing seminars, workshops, press conferences and field visits as required. • Support in the drafting, editing, and distributing of communications products covering UNODC’s work in Palestine, including social media content, web stories, press releases, newsletters, leaflets and etc.; Ensure effective communications, visibility and knowledge management within UNODC. • Undertake field visits to gather the information and results related to the programme. • Other duties as needed.

the field of social work, coordination, reporting and management, human rights or any other related field. • Previous experience in the area of criminal justice, Youth and Drugs would be highly regarded. • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset. • Excellent oral and written communication; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels • Ability to learn, work, and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment, and in a multicultural team of international and national personnel. • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet. Familiarity with office technology equipment. • Ability to work with tight deadlines. • Sound security awareness.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. A 6-month contract with subsequent contract extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 4598.91 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance is included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as Exit allowance for satisfactory service. https://www.unv.org
