As part of efforts to advance the rights and well-being of UNICEF in Ghana, the Country Office has a vibrant, creative and busy Communication and Advocacy team. The section supports the programme, advocacy, emergency response, branding and partnership strategic communication, visibility and engagement for the Ghana Country Office, and ensuring monitoring, evaluation and management of assets. The team also participates in field missions. The Unit comprises currently of three national professionals and one Head of Section. Given the level of activity and outputs from the section, the Communication section is searching for a creative, strategic thinker with a flair for communication skills: writing, speaking and social media engagement.

How can you make a difference?

The intern to join the team would support Communication Unit in the following:

  1. Participating in and documenting field missions
  2. Drafting key communication materials (newsletters, briefings, stories)
  3. Organizing and establishing an up-to-date comprehensive photo library
  4. Support with social media content
  5. Assist with developing content and engagement opportunities for U-Reporters

Tasks to be completed

  • Create a clearly labelled photograph database with photographs from 2019 - WeShare.
  • Support the documentation of field missions for priority advocacy campaigning
  • Work with the Communication team to support organizing of youth-led event.
  • Research and seek information that can support the creation of key UNICEF resources.
  • Provide organization support for set-up and execution of key events as they arise.
  • Support the production and design of media assets as required.
  • Create a media coverage update.

Expected Deliverables

  • At least three pieces of written content completed and submitted, including newsletters and planners
  • At least two human interest stories from field missions completed and submitted
  • A youth-centred event organized in relation to key advocacy priority
  • At least 5 social media pieces of content completed and submitted

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Proof of enrolment in an undergraduate or graduate programme in a university

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Reference letter from school confirming student requires internship. OR
  • Up-to date university transcript or Statement of result/certificate evidencing completion of first degree within the last two years (if applicable).
  • Expected field of study should be Communications or relevant sphere.
