The Research, Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation (RAME) unit of the World Food Programme (WFP) Ghana plays a crucial role in identifying humanitarian assistance and development needs, targeting, monitoring and evaluation, establishing food security, nutrition, and early-warning systems, as well as mapping vulnerability and WFP interventions in the country. The RAME unit provides crosscutting support to the strategic outcomes of the CSP. The UN Volunteer will support with systems and processes to collect, clean, organize, analyze and visualize food security, nutrition, and monitoring data for WFP, government counterparts, and partners, using traditional and state-of-the-art data analysis techniques, through quality maps, infographics and reports, for country food and nutrition analysis and understanding the socio-economic context and design of activities, to accelerate efforts to achieve zero hunger in Ghana.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Research, Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation (RAME), the incumbent will support WFP and government counterparts with the systematic organizing, cleaning, geospatial analysis and mapping of food security and nutrition data. In addition, the incumbent will play a key role in harnessing management and visualization of data from WFP Ghana's monitoring and community feedback mechanism (CFM), through state-of-the art geospatial analysis and mapping. The UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Provide technical support in geospatial mapping and remote sensing analysis for evidence-based food security and nutrition surveillance and monitoring (WFP activity map-ping, hazard mapping, disaster risk assessment, and exposure analysis) aligning with WFP standards, and contribute to timely reporting of WFP initiatives. 2. Contribute to the development of vulnerability analysis and mapping (VAM) initiatives and activities, plans and processes, while ensuring compliance with WFP policies and guidance. 3. Support the development of systems and tools for the monitoring and assessment of food assistance needs in line with innovative methodologies and best practice. 4. Support WFP and government counterparts to institutionalize measures, scripts and workflows to regularly monitor surveys, remote or face-to-face, including sample targets, data quality and biases, and identify solutions to improve the quality of data, using geo-spatial techniques. 5. Collaborate with stakeholders (internal and external) to monitor ongoing projects, ensuring effective collaboration, timeliness and efficiency and highlight potential risks for project delivery. 6. Support in the design and maintenance of digital platforms for data analysis and data visualizations, including geospatial analysis, to support programme activities and provide background for decision-making and planning (using, e.g., MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS). 7. Support capacity building for WFP staff, partners and national government in conduct vulnerability analysis and geospatial systems to inform effective preparedness and responses. 8.
