The UNV will be part of the UNDP Kyrgyzstan Climate Change, Environment and DRM team located in Bishkek Office supporting ministries, government institutions, academic institutions, local governments, civil society organizations, development partners, UNDP partners and other entities. The UNV will be a liaison person between KOICA and UNDP to improve the communication and visibility of partnership. UNV will support to project identification and development including on integrated approaches and multifocal area projects, providing timely quality information and technical advice on source of funds policies, priorities and activities – including the Green Climate Fund, other multilateral donors, bilateral donors and foundations; He/She will support to identify priorities and entry-points for KOICA-UNDP partnership and monitor the agreed KOICA-UNDP follow up action (including the current joint with KOICA project development for submission to GCF and new Disaster Risn reduction project proposal)

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of [Team Leader UNDP Climate Change, Environment and DRM ], the UN Volunteer Climate Change and DRM will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities (% of the time) 1 Policy Support and Research - 30% ‐ Conduct research and prepare inputs for policy briefs and analyti-cal papers on climate change, environment, energy, and disaster risk management (DRM). - Assist in identifying and assessing challenges and opportunities within the cluster’s thematic areas to inform strategic program-ming. ‐ Support the development of innovative concept notes, project proposals, and policy recommendations to address pressing is-sues in climate change and DRM.

2 Contribute to programme and project management - 30% ‐ Provide thematic inputs to the preparation of terms of reference, talking points, meeting briefs, and project reports. ‐ Contribute to planning, implementation, and monitoring of cluster projects by offering technical guidance and ensuring alignment with programmatic objectives. ‐ Assist in quality assurance processes during programme de-sign, implementation, and progress monitoring. ‐ Draft progress reports, monitoring and evaluation docu-ments, and other project-related deliverables.

3 Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Building - 20% ‐ Identify and engage key national and local stakeholders to enhance programme ownership and foster strategic partner-ships. ‐ Collaborate with government counterparts, donors, NGOs, and private sector actors to ensure effective coordination and alignment of activities. ‐ Act as a focal point for liaison with partners, facilitating smooth communication and collaboration on project-related matters. ‐ Provide technical input and guidance to partners in thematic support areas like climate change adaptation, energy effi-ciency, and sustainable environmental practices.

4 Knowledge Management and Communication - 20% ‐ Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities, including partici-pation in knowledge networks and communities of practice related to climate change, environment, and DRM. ‐ Assist in the development of communication materials such as brochures, videos, infographics, and social media content to highlight programme achievements and raise awareness. ‐ Document and share success stories, lessons learned, and best practices from programme implementation. ‐ Support the organization of awareness-raising events, work-shops, and trainings for both internal and external audiences.

As an active UNDP team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to the United Nations Development Programme and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: • Programme and Project management; • Programme and Projects design; • Nurturing of strategic partnerships and resource mobilization; • Knowledge building, quality periodic reports and advocacy.

Kyrgyzstan is a country in Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked country with mountainous ter-rain. It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west and southwest, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the east. Its capital and largest city is Bishkek which is a safe and nice place to live. The city has all necessary infrastructure and services are accessible. Kyrgyzstan has a wide mix of ethnic groups and traditional cultures, with the Kyrgyz being the majority group.

Kyrgyzstan is a unique country and UNDP is a unique organization. It provides for an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere to make life comfortable and affordable. Therefore, flexibility and the ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions, involving physical hardship and little comfort, are essential.
