Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the Medical Insurance Section, Financial Resource Management Service (FRMS), Division of Administration (DoA), United Nations Office at Geneva. The incumbent will report to the Deputy Chief.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief and Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Staff Mutual Insurance Society against Sickness and Accident (UNSMIS), the incumbent is responsible for the following duties: 1. Tasks related to the processing of medical claims: - Supervises, coordinates and monitors the processing of claims received by Hospitalizations’ team of the Reimbursement Unit; - Analyses and evaluates the amounts due in accordance with the regulatory provisions for cases of hospitalization and checks cases involving amounts in excess of CHF 10,000. 2. Focal point for the implementation of the new IT system. 3. Assists the hospitalizations group’s supervisor in: - Organizing work; - Training other employees to master the computerized reimbursement system; - Providing guidance and expert advice on the technical aspects of the job. 4. Tasks related to the payment of claims: - Checks lists of amounts reimbursed; - verifies payments and corrects mistakes. 5. Information to Clients: - Informs interested personnel of the special insurance requirements and procedures to be followed; - Liaises with the billing services of the hospitals. 6. Other tasks - Drafts correspondence with insured members on decisions taken by the hospitalizations group’s supervisor; - Completes other tasks that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in reimbursement claims or a similar field is required. The minimum number of years of experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. A minimum of three (3) years' experience within the UN common system or comparable international organization is desirable. Experience working with complex IT systems with specific focus on insurance underwriting systems or claim managements systems, is desirable Experience working as focal point to bridge the operational requirements of different teams/units, is desirable

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; For the position advertised, fluency in both English and French is required. knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
