How can you make a difference?

The Child Protection Specialist (Social and Gender norms, adolescents and innovation) reports to the Chief, Child Protection/Level 4 for guidance and general supervision. The Specialist will be the manager of Output 3 of the Child Protection programme “By 2023, parents, teachers, religious leaders, communities and adolescents have enhanced knowledge, skills and attitudes to protect girls and boys from violence and exploitation through the scale of Positive Discipline, Positive Parenting and Cambodia PROTECT child protection programmes”. S/he will supervise two NOB Child Protection Officers.

  • Support to programme/project development and planning
  • Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
  • Technical and operational support to programme implementation
  • Networking and partnership building
  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.

Experiences:

  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in child protection or related fields is required.
  • Good understanding of violence against children is highly desirable.
  • Experience working on change of social and gender norms, adolescents programming and child online protection is considered as an asset.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF policies and programmes is an advantage, particularly programmes that address violence against children.
  • Previous experience working with UNICEF or other UN agencies is an asset.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of the Cambodian context is an added advantage.
  • Excellent programme planning, management and coordination skills.
  • Experience in taking programmes/projects to scale, testing innovation (including collaboration with private sectors and technology for development) and applying the global frameworks to the national contexts is highly desirable.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
