How can you make a difference?

The incumbent will be part of Child Protection Team in Cambodia. She/he will be responsible to provide technical support and oversight to Government partners to operationalize and use systems and tools to generate data, and to spearhead new solutions to improve data for children. The incumbent will focus on building capacity of Government to analyze and use the data generated from the existing platforms and systems (e.g. Primero, and CPIMS) to further inform planning, policy making and advocacy, and to take stock of the progress made against the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), and other relevant human rights mechanisms recommendations. Internally, she/he will support the child protection section to improve the generation and use of data, by regularly analyzing trends in critical areas, including new and emerging issues (e.g. online sexual abuse and exploitation); and will provide technical guidance to monitor the Child Protection program against outcome and output indicators. Finally, she/he will support to evidence generation initiatives of the section, in collaboration with the research and evaluation manager, PME and other relevant colleagues.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Provide technical support to relevant Government institutions to regularly generate data and evidence using existing digital systems, such as Primero and CPIMS with the view of informing programming and advocacy.
  • Coordinate evidence generation initiatives for the child protection program
  • Support the internal data monitoring and reporting processes for the section, including through coordination and quality assurance

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in one of the following fields is required: development studies; sociology; international relations and related fields,
  • Relevant trainings in data science, and/or in qualitative and quantitative reach is an asset.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in the area of child protection information/data management, advocacy, M&E is required.
  • Experience working with digital case management system such as Primero or other systems of managing data through technology is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization.
  • Fluency in Khmer and English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
