Duties and Responsibilities The UNEP-convened Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society.

The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat at the Economy Division in Paris.

The Communications Consultant will support the CCAC to communicate clearly, coherently and consistently about its work to reduce short-lived climate pollutants to partners, stakeholders, and the broader public. This will be a hands-on position supporting the communications needs of the CCAC Secretariat’s various teams and workstreams.

The Communications Consultant will produce compelling written and audio-visual content, contribute to the development of communication strategies and plans, and disseminate important CCAC news and progress updates throughout the CCAC’s channels.

Specific objectives include: 1. Develop media engagement strategy and plans in line with the communications strategy. 2. Develop high-quality written pieces for the media including press releases, op-eds, blogs, media advisories, as well as designing, producing and disseminating public science communication content. 3. Develop content partnership between academics and journalists with a mandate to publish research-based news and analysis to inform public discourse as well media to not just report problems but to cover solutions to local and global challenges. 4. Support partners in journalistic content production and dissemination. 5. Support engagement of journalists through media briefings, media dialogues, media master classes and other methods; so that they can produce stories for their own media outlets. 6. Advise on building relationships with a variety of media outlets, journalists and news outlets in line with the Communications strategy. 7. Prepare high-level senior officials and scientists for engaging with media and journalists, brief the Secretariat Team on key messages and narrative and ensure sharing of messaging and advise technical team and digital communications on messaging and ensure alignment. 8. Advise on crisis and risk communications. 9. Media monitoring and evaluation of media relations activities to assess the impact of strategies and plans.

Qualifications/special skills - First-level university degree with a specialization in communications, international affairs, social science, public relations or a related discipline is required. - A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required. - Experience or a demonstrated commitment to the fields of climate change and/or air quality is required. - Experience of media relations within Government or International setting working with diverse group of media on complex issues is required.

Languages - Fluency in English and French is required.
