Overview

Assist in the implementation of cash and livelihoods projects in Iraq.

You have:

  • 2 years’ experience in Cash and livelihood projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • University degree or higher education relevant to the assignment (social services, agriculture, relevant engineering)
  • Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Experience conducting beneficiary identification, verification and registration
  • Experience supporting referrals and/or identifying service providers
  • Experience conducting focus groups, questionnaires, and surveys
  • Competencies in all computer related tasks including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communications skills, with good verbal and written English and fluent in local Arabic language
  • Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision in a challenging environment
  • Good understanding of community participation and ability to communicate with beneficiaries
  • Overall good knowledge of geography, local population and local language in operational areas

Contract

Role and responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement delegated Cash and Livelihoods project portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Assist the Project Officer in registration of beneficiaries; verification of needs based on home visits, post distribution monitoring; and/or distribution of assistance in line with NRC policies and donor requirements.
  • Ensure that the most vulnerable beneficiaries are selected in line with the approved beneficiary selection criteria
  • Verify and update the beneficiary registers and report back to the project officer
  • Facilitate the distribution of in-kind assistance/supplies/cash to selected beneficiaries and monitor utilisation of the items distributed
  • Follow up on all beneficiaries regularly to ensure that they implement activities in line with schedules provided
  • Participate in the preparation of weekly and monthly plan and schedules to be submitted to the immediate supervisor within given deadlines;
  • Actively promote community participation in project activities with particular attention to gender representation in all activities;
  • Facilitate the training of beneficiaries
  • Prepare and submit reports and other updates as required
  • Support with referrals to other NRC sectors or through external referral mechanisms

Competencies

  • 2 years’ experience in Cash and livelihood projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • University degree or higher education relevant to the assignment (social services, agriculture, relevant engineering). Proven work experience will be considered as a substitute for formal education.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Experience conducting beneficiary identification, verification and registration
  • Experience supporting referrals and/or identifying service providers
  • Experience conducting focus groups, questionnaires, and surveys
  • Competencies in all computer related tasks including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communications skills, with good verbal and written English and fluent in local Arabic language is a requirement
  • Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision in a challenging environment.
  • Good understanding of community participation, and very good ability to communicate with beneficiaries.
  • Overall good knowledge of geography, local population and local language in the areas of operational interests

Other information:

  • Contract Duration: 12 months ( with the possibility of extension)
  • Duty Station: Nenawa - based Mosul with traveling 80% to other intervention areas.

  • Salary: G4/S1, According to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
