STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. Experience: Two to Three years of experience in fortification related projects/assignments and/or social mobilization.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Ability to use standard office equipment such as photocopiers and scanners. • Knowledge of standardised business support work routines and methods. • Knowledge of standard office software packages, e.g. Microsoft word. • Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information with a variety of individuals. • Good attention to detail in order to identify data discrepancies. • Ability to work to deadlines and follow clear instructions. Language: General Service (Field): Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Urdu. Knowledge of local language of the duty station is desirable.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Job holders will be based in field locations in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Lahore. At this level, work is carried out under close supervision or immediately available assistance. Job holders are expected to produce organised and accurate work.

JOB PURPOSE

To scale-up the chakki fortification project in a bid to address undernutrition and improve accessibility of fortified nutritious food to the most vulnerable population WFP is extending its support to chakkis/milling units. This support includes the technical strengthening of the mills in coordination with National and Provincial Fortification Alliances, relevant government departments, National and Provincial Food Departments, Under the overall supervision of the Head of The Nutrition, Social Protection and Education/Head of the Provincial Office and the direct supervision of the Food Technologist (Project Manager Fortification), the Business Support Assistant Programme (Chakki Fortification Project) will ensure timely support in implementation of all field activities twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, to effectively meet the needs of the chakki flour fortification through mills (Chakki) under the project.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. Monitor all chakki flour fortification related activities including maintaining coordination with the supervisor and WFP project team. 2. Assist in capacity building activities for selected chakki mill staff, food inspectors, food safety officers, LHWs, lab staff and district focal persons on fortification, quality assurance and quality control processes to promote sustainable and adequate/effective fortification process of chakki flour. 3. Assist in providing timely and adequate support to chakki flour fortification, installation of micro-feeders, its calibration and setting flow rate of premix as per standards prescribed by Pakistan standard and Quality control authority and PFA regulations. 4. Closely monitor the selected chakki mills to ensure that there is uninterrupted supply of premix to these chakki mills within allocated territory according to their requirements and perform timely coordination with the supervisor and project team. 5. Ensure timely and smooth supply of iron Spot test kits to chakki Mills and food inspectors for monitoring of fortification compliance at production, market and household level. 6. Collect samples of fortified chakki flour from the selected chakki mills on regular basis and ensure its receipt at identified labs as per experimental design 7. Notify the district Food Fortification Committee of monthly meetings. 8. Provide social mobilization support and raise awareness in consumers. 9. Support market and house-Hold surveys to monitor availability of adequately fortified chakki flour and ensure compliance keeping close coordination with the project team. 10. Assist project team in coordination measures with district government authorities for awareness raising activities at district level to generate demand in coordination with designed organization/agency as per directives. 11. Prepare and submit daily and monthly project plans and reports to Supervisor 12. Identify issues and bottlenecks related to chakki flour fortification activities in the field for timely sharing with the supervisor. 13. Perform other duties as and when required/assigned.
