Result of Service Support the efforts by the United Nations' Office of Human Resources to put in place a new web based front-end tool (new Member States Portal) providing United Nations Member States and other internal clients with information currently contained on a legacy platform and in the Secretary-General's paper-based reports on the Composition of the Secretariat (CR) and on Gratis personnel, Retired staff and Consultants and individual contractors (GRC). This new Member States Portal will provide online information about the UN’s workforce in a new interactive, dynamic web-based tool.

It is expected that replacement of the Member States Portal will result in a (1) more efficient and dynamic access to workforce data for Member States, as well as, (2) in a more holistic view for Member States on the UN's workforce and its demographic characteristics.

Duties and Responsibilities The Office of Human Resources (OHR) in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) operates an online portal for use by United Nations Member (UN) States to obtain information on staff statistics and geographical status of Member States. OHR is continuing with the replacement and enhancement of the Member States portal with additional features. The new Member States Portal provides more comprehensive information about UN workforce and advanced analytics, using the latest technology available through SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Member States Portal Enhancement is one of the approved priority projects for the United Nations' new Business Intelligence system (UNBI). UNBI provides a single platform built in SAP HANA with united data from multiple data sources. UNBI provides the foundation for building reports, dashboards and analytics required to meet the strategic, monitoring, compliance, and operational needs of UN entities, as well as the Member States. The new Member States Portal has SAP HANA as single data source and SAC as front-end web-based tool. OHR provides requirements, serve as subject matter expert and represents the user in the continuation of this project.

Member States Portal Enhancement comprises several phases. The continuation of Phase 1 consists in incorporating the staff data of the existing portal presenting it in a new dynamic and interactive way, thus allowing Member States to take full advantage of the latest Business Intelligence technological advances that SAC provides. On subsequent phases of the project, information from the current paper-based reports on the Composition of the Secretariat (CR) and on Gratis personnel, Retired staff and Consultants and individual contractors (GRC) will be added to the front-end web tool.

The consultant will perform a business analyst role for the Office of Human Resources' (OHR) in the continuation of the Member States Portal Enhancement project to (1) identify, document and communicate business requirements, (2) to engage in the development process as a subject matter expert and (3) user testing as necessary.

In that regard the consultant will be responsible for:

  • Providing and documenting requirements for designing the front-end tool of the new Member States Portal including screen/report specifications, navigation and user access;
  • Reviewing that the front-end tool successfully meets user requirements and engaging with the supplier and project manager to find appropriate solutions as needed;
  • Reviewing intermediate products (sprints) related to the new Member States Portal as produced by the supplier and ensuring that adequate and timely feedback is given
  • Engaging in final product user testing (UAT) to ensure that the new Member States Portal successfully meets all requirements and expectations
  • Coordinating UAT, documenting and reporting it including: o Designing test cases o Executing test cases o Assigning and monitor the execution of test cases by other OHR users o Reviewing, accepting, and reporting new defects providing related evidence o Assigning and monitoring test cases for reviewing Defect correction o Providing UAT execution progress to BTAD
  • Advising OHR in the final product acceptance according to UAT results and coordinating end of project activities from the user perspective
  • Providing Lessons learned / suggestions for future projects
  • Supporting final users (Member States and internal users) through Hypercare period
  • Performing other duties as assigned

    Qualifications/special skills Licenses & Certificates: Prince 2 certification is desirable Skills: - Knowledge of SAP, SAP Hana, SAP OM, SAC desirable Academic Qualifications: First level or advanced degree in Information Technology, Analytics, or related areas. Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in Business Intelligence solutions projects, including front-end tool, as business analysist (requirements gathering, documentation, user testing and communication) is required

Experience with the below listed activities and tools is also required: o dashboard design, development and implementation o business intelligence tools o front-end business intelligence user interfaces o working with remote teams in various time zones

And experience with the below is desirable: o data warehouse design and implementation o data extraction, transformation and loading tools o SQL Server transact script creation Language: Fluency in spoken and written English
