This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

The purpose of this assignment is to strengthen Purewish Foundation Uganda's ability to identify funding opportunities, develop high-quality proposals, communicate its work professionally and build a stronger pipeline of potential institutional partners only not directly request donations from individuals or organizations.

Instead, the volunteer will provide technical support in:

Proposal development; Concept note development; Donor and funding opportunity research; Resource mobilization strategy; Donor mapping; Grant opportunity tracking; Organizational communications; Project presentation materials; Graphic design.

Purewish Foundation Uganda (PFU) is currently renting school premises to provide free education to vulnerable children in Northern Uganda. Through this initiative, 120 vulnerable children are currently receiving free education, while the organization expects to reach more than 350 vulnerable children next year.

However, operating from rented premises limits the school's ability to expand, invest in permanent infrastructure and develop long-term educational services. PFU therefore plans to purchase land and establish a permanent school campus that will provide a safe, stable and sustainable learning environment for vulnerable children.

The long-term vision is to develop the school into a sustainable educational institution capable of serving thousands of vulnerable children across Northern Uganda. Owning the land and school infrastructure will reduce dependence on rented premises and create an opportunity for the school to develop sustainable income-generating mechanisms that can support teachers, school operations, learning materials, maintenance and the continued education of vulnerable children.

The volunteer will support PFU's efforts to achieve this vision through proposal development, donor research and professional communication materials only. The volunteer will not solicit funds or directly request donations from individuals or organizations.

Key Tasks Research and identify foundations, development agencies, education funders, child-focused organizations and other relevant funding opportunities that align with PFU's vision of establishing a permanent school for vulnerable children. Develop and maintain a structured database of potential donors and funding opportunities, including eligibility requirements, funding priorities, deadlines and application procedures. Research opportunities specifically supporting school infrastructure, land acquisition, education for vulnerable children, teacher support, inclusive education and sustainable community-based schools. Support PFU in developing high-quality concept notes and funding proposals for the A Foundation for Their Future initiative. Assist in developing compelling project narratives explaining the current situation of the 95 children, the expected expansion to more than 250 children, and the long-term vision of reaching thousands of vulnerable children. Support development of proposals that clearly explain why purchasing land and constructing a permanent school is a strategic investment in the long-term sustainability of education for vulnerable children. Assist with developing project goals, objectives, activities, expected results, sustainability plans, theories of change, logical frameworks and monitoring indicators. Support the development of realistic project budgets and budget narratives for land acquisition, school construction, learning facilities, teacher support and other essential infrastructure. Research and identify potential partners who could provide financial, technical, infrastructure, equipment or educational support. Support PFU in developing a longer-term resource mobilization strategy and funding pipeline for the permanent school. Develop donor-ready project summaries, organizational profiles, presentations, fact sheets and other communication materials. Create professional graphics, infographics, diagrams and visual materials that communicate the project's vision, impact and sustainability model. Develop visual materials showing the project's pathway from a rented school serving 95 vulnerable children → expansion to 250+ children → permanent school → increased access to education for thousands of children. Support PFU in professionally presenting the school's sustainability model, demonstrating how ownership of land and infrastructure can reduce rental costs and create a stronger foundation for long-term school operations. Review and edit existing proposal and communication materials to improve clarity, professionalism and alignment with donor requirements. Track relevant funding calls and provide regular updates to PFU on opportunities that match the organization's programs. Support the development of a professional donor information package for the permanent school initiative. Provide recommendations on strengthening PFU's institutional capacity, project positioning and long-term resource mobilization.

The volunteer will not be responsible for directly soliciting donations. The assignment will focus on the technical side of resource mobilization: finding the right opportunities, developing strong proposals, researching donors, strengthening funding pipelines and professionally communicating PFU's vision.
